There's No Denying Obi-Wan the Kitten Choose the Right Family to Adopt Him

For anyone who may be hesitant to believe that animals choose US, here is more proof. Because when a young kitten and small child instantly bond, it’s meant to be. And that is exactly what happened to the Keene family in early 2025 when they crossed paths with Obi-Wan. The four month old grey tabby kitten had been raised in a loving foster home but was ready for his forever home. Protectors of Animals in Connecticut clearly have an amazing group of fosterers in their organization. Obi-Wan is proof of that!

Obi-Wan Introduces Himself

If you foster any animals, you know that finding the perfect forever home isn’t an easy task. Once they are ready, how do they stand out amongst the sea of other furbabies? Well, Obi-Wan let the world know he was ready in his “own” words. Translated by his foster mom of course “wink wink”.

“Hello Human! I am a cat Jedi who is almost done with master training. Till then I will use my cat force so you will cuddle with me and give me tons of loves. You will pet me all the time and see my lovey purring side. I will also make your dogs play with me. I need my training so running with the dogs and kids is perfect with that. After my Jedi training, I will enjoy a quiet meditating time with your younglings if you have them. In fact, I demand younglings since they give the best loves.”

Being raised in a foster home with dogs and children is very beneficial during the adoption process though. This opens up options for families that may have a more difficult time finding an animal who gets along with their resident pets. And kittens who aren’t afraid of dogs are simply too cute in my opinion. Their fearlessness, fierce little furry bodies standing next to a massive pup is swoon worthy.

However, there was a human that was clearly missing a tiny tabby part of her soul.

The morning that POA shared Obi-Wans post, a women named Lauren Keene rushed to complete the adoption application. There was just something about the kitten that called to her. Their family was grieving the loss of another animal, but at the place where they were ready to adopt again. And when they went to the shelter for a meet-and-greet with Obi-Wan, there was no question about it. He was meant to be with their family and the emotions were an intense confirmation of this.

Sorry I started crying I just knew he was the one that was supposed to be with me next. We are all so in love. Thank you so much for all that you guys do.

So Obi-Wan had found the perfect family and now we have the proof.

Because on Saturday, Feb 15th 2025, we ALL fell in love with this sweet story after seeing the photos Lauren shared. It was in the Friends of POA Facebook group that she shared what may be some of the most heartwarming photos you’ll ever see. Thank you to their entire organization for what you do to help animals!

Obi-Wans purrfect human match was in a petite package, just as he was.

There’s not much I can say about these photos through happy tears. They ooze love themselves through the lens. Enjoy and CONGRATS TO THE KEENE Family and their new addition.

Obi Wans first day at home was nothing short of extraordinary. He is the sweetest, best addition to our family. First time I have felt happiness after the loss our sweet Penny. Thank you protectors of animals for working with us to get this sweet boy home. I fell in love the second I saw him.
