Umi and Suna are a bonded pair of beautiful cats that go together like Sand and the Ocean. While Suna’s name translates to ‘Sand’ in Japanese, her friend Umi translates to –you guessed it: ‘Ocean.’ Both girls are rescues lucky enough to reside at The Cat House on the Kings sanctuary in Parlier, California.
This “bonded munchkin pair” is just one of the hundreds of such adult pairs seeking homes in rescues everywhere. Although the kittens get most of the attention, adopting bonded adult cats has some ameowzing advantages. For example, you get the satisfaction of helping them stay together in for a lifetime and witness all the funny and tender moments daily. Adopting such a closely bonded duo would be a like a stroll on the beach!
Umi Wags Her Tail Like a Puppy
Like many cats, these girls each have nicknames. Umi is an energetic one-year-old house panther, earning the nickname “Zoomy.” Her best friend Suna’s nickname is Tuna which also goes with the oceanic theme.
Umi has a unique purrsonality and seems to think she’s a dog. And aside from Suna, this kitty tends to prefer the company of dogs!
“[Umi] will make squeaky little noises when you walk into a room and wags her tail when she is happy. When she purrs, you will occasionally be graced with her little pink tongue sticking out. Umi is also extremely curious, often standing on her back legs to scope out her surroundings. She does well around dogs and is a little nervous around new cats at first,” the rescue shared.
As you can see above, Umi is an exceptionally outgoing cat like Suna, a playful and cuddly calico extrovert who loves meeting new people. But they’re most comfortable when they stay together. Have you ever seen two cats look more cuddly than this duo?
Calico Munchkin Suna
Suna’s favorite spot is hanging out where the people are, running right over to them confidently.
“Suna loves attention and right when you walk in the room, she is in, she is running as fast as she can with her little legs, right up to you,” the rescue shared.
Once this pretty one-year-old finds someone to give her attention, she’s the cuddliest of cats. Like Umi, she does great with dogs, which means they’d both be ideal for a home that loves both cats and dogs equally.
“Suna also loves to be petted and held like a baby. She does very well around dogs and cats.”
