Cat Man Chris shared the story of four adorable ginger kittens who formed a rock ‘n roll band in foster care. First, they spent their early days in the new-improved “Catty Shack.” While the original band name was Smashing Pumpkins, they later became known as HISS after hard-rockers KISS!
This year, it seems to be raining ginger kittens and every other flavor kitten in Florida.
Rescues everywhere are full! But these boys are the lucky few who will have a chance to rock out in their new homes.
Ginger Kitten Band HISS/KISS
HISS includes ginger boys Ace, Paul, Peter, and Gene, who posed on a piano at Kneady Kitty Rescue.
“Supurr big shout out to our friends at Kneady Kitty Rescue for taking in the ‘Smashing Pumpkins’ (a band name suggested by a follower). Instead, their new foster family decided to name them after the band KISS, or should that be HISS?!:
“…As you can see, they’re settling in well to the new temporary digs, and I’m sure they’ll find their furever humans in no time at all 🧡🧡🧡🧡,” Cat Man Chris shared.
Kneady Kitty Rescue shared that the “band of destroyers” were practicing well into the night in foster care.
“They have already started learning to play the piano and are working on those vocals late into the night to the tune of ‘I want to rock and roll all night.’ Heard tell, the neighbors thought there was a big party next door. Nope just the KISS crew getting ready to go out on tour. They will be rocking and rolling into their new forever homes in just a short time,” shared Kneady Kitty Rescue.
The Friendliest KISS Kitten
The friendliest band member is Gene, a lovebug from the start who loved showing Chris his belly.
“If only they would all go this easy. That would be awesome,” said Chris, adding that kittens like these would make someone very happy.

A Catty Shack Full of Meowsical Kittens
After a heavy rain storm sidelined efforts, Chris worked to catch the band’s lineup one by one. The ginger boys joined a little “spicy nugget” house panther in the Catty Shack.
“As you know, we love our ginger boys,” Chris said. “Gingers and mini-panthers are the best,” he added.
Later, a “hoMEOWner” where the kittens were trying to survive caught the fourth ginger boy, plus a bonus older black kitten too!
“The hoMEOWners managed to catch the 4th ginger kitten this morning, along with a bonus older black kitten too! = 9 kittens in the Catty Shack right now. Somebody else needs help with two more kittens at another spot as well, and every rescue is jam-packed full with no foster space. If you’ve ever thought about fostering kittens, now is definitely the time. Everybody in the rescue community is run ragged and needs all the help they can get. Plus, if you’re feeding cats purrlease, purrlease, purrlease do whatever you can to get them spayed and neutered; it’s so sad and exhausting to be constantly making decisions about the future of kitty lives dependent on what foster space is available,” Cat Man Chris explained.
Within hours, most of the ginger kittens were pre-adopted and will go on to start their music careers in their new homes!
“Thank you Chris for all of your hard work, and giving these boys a chance to find a home where they can play the drums all night long,” Kneady Kitty Rescue wrote. “TNVR saves lives, and these rock and rollers are proof.”

Live from the Catty Shack
Recently, Cat Man Chris broadcast live from the new-improved Catty Shack, offering a 10 x 10-foot space to house the cuties. Although a work in progress, it’s “night and day” compared to the former retired classic Catty Shack, with more space to do things such as move around and keep supplies –all without leaks! Plus, it houses a little AC unit to keep the temperature constant, much-needed in the Florida sunshine.
A follower dubbed it the Cole Memorial Catty Shack, and we love that!
