Have you ever wanted to bring a new kitten home but your partner wasn’t as gung-ho for it as you? Well, one man’s idea has gone viral all over the internet and it’s honestly an epic idea.

Andy from Columbus, Ohio who uses the Reddit handle of KipDudemeister, shared a picture of an adorably small kitten. Perfectly normal right? Well here’s the kicker: the caption on the photo read “My wife agrees to a ‘trial run’ with a cat. She has fallen in love with the little girl and keeps extending the trial period. Meet Penelope. (This was her reaction to being told that she can stay another week).”

How can you say no to that adorable face? Since posted on the r/Cats forum, the photo now has over 66,000 upvotes and has hundreds of comments from Redditors.

Penelope’s New Home Certainly Wasn’t Planned

Andy lives with his wife and three sons when Penelope was brought home to stay with them for awhile. Andy told Newsweek his interesting story:

“My parents’ cat recently had a litter of kittens who turned eight weeks old this past week and were ready to be adopted. My parents were on their way to take a few of the kittens to their new forever home on Sunday. But decided to make a quick stop at our house beforehand with all six kittens in tow.” As the kittens headed off to their new home, Penelope stayed behind much to the delight of Andy and his children. Along with our three boys, we have been trying to convince Diane to get a cat for years. But she was reluctant to do so because she didn’t know if they could help take care of a cat. Truthfully, I have been trying to convince my wife to get a cat ever since we got married and we’ll celebrate 14 years of marriage in July.”

Well, as the old saying goes, better late than never!

Tidbit time!

Did you know that the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) states that out of 4.1 million shelter animals that are adopted each year, 2.1 million are cats. Half of all pets isn’t too bad! Also, a survey from the American Pet Products Association found 31 percent of cats in the U.S. are obtained from an animal shelter or humane society.

Now back to our story.

Andy said his parents had joked about bringing them a cat, but apparently, it wasn’t a joke! Andy states, “We picked the sweetest cat of the litter,” he said: “I explained to my wife that it was just a trial run for two days (with a wink) and that she could go back to my parents.”

Well with the “trial period” continuously extending, we think it’s probably safe to say Penelope isn’t going anywhere, especially since Andy writes:

“All in all, I think the trial run will be indefinite. Penelope is home. After the post started gaining traction, my wife commented that if the post got 5,000 upvotes, we could keep her. Then it became 10,000… and then she just kind of gave up.”

We’d give up too! Welcome to your new fur-ever home Penelope!
