A family shared the story of their first day after adopting an orange tabby they named Toby Felinederson, after a character on The Office comedy named Toby Flenderson. On the show, Toby’s character is a generally soft-spoken and mild-mannered Human Resources Representative.
According to the Reddit post, they adopted Toby from the Cuddles Cat Lounge in American Fork, Utah.
Immediately after arriving in his furever home, the orange tabby looks right at home. In the video, we see Toby Felinederson kneading as the dad, who goes by JephriB on Reddit, holds him on his lap.
As we’ve shared before, when cats start “making biscuits” on their human, it could be a sign they are saying, “I love you.” Most cat behaviorists agree that kneading means your cat is perfectly content.
“It’s Toby’s first night as a new member of our family. It makes me so happy that he’s so content and comfortable already,” the caption reads.
As he pointed out, it seems somebody had loved this cat before.
“I don’t know what his story was in the three years of his life prior to today, but someone loved him and taught him to love,” stated JephriB. “We feel so grateful to have him in our home now.”
People Love Seeing Toby Settle Into His New Home
Online, the post received almost 18K upvotes from people who left over 175 comments.
“Congratulations on your BOC! Big Orange Cat, or course,” wrote one person in the comments.
“He is a BOC: Ball of cuddles,” stated JephriB. “He’s just the sweetest. We love him already.”
In another thread, he added, “It’s time to sleep now, and he’s still loving cuddles,” with the picture below.
Introducing Toby to the family, Mom walks in carrying him while the kids wait for a surprise on the sofa.
“We got a new cat today,” says JephriB.
“Are we gonna keep it?” one of the kids asks. You can see they are super excited about the new addition to the family.
“He’s our new cat, ” says JephriB. “He’s our new old cat; we got him from a shelter,” he added.
Then, he gave more details about Toby, who is 3 years old and “really really soft and nice,” he said.
Immediately, the family started talking about names for the cat. One of the kids suggested “Love Cat,” but Dad’s name won out.
“Daddy likes the name Toby,” the mother explained.
“I think Toby is a good name for him cause he’s nice, nice Toby cat,” he said. “Cause he’s a tabby cat, we can call him a Toby cat instead.”
“Hi Toby,” one of the kids said, agreeing with the name.
In another post, JephriB shared a video of the family’s first morning cuddling with Toby Felinederson. Everyone is showering affection on the tabby, and he loves it. It seems this cat was meant to be part of the family all the time.
“I just couldn’t help but share this last video as it’s about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” said JephriB.
As Toby sits on a cushion, the kids pet him, saying, “He’s so sweet” and admiring the cat’s soft fur.
“He loves our loves,” – one of them says. “He loves the snuggles.”
👨🏾🍳 Toby Felinederson is Still Making Biscuits 👨🏾🍳
On day three, Toby was still making biscuits, starting to play more and “his meows and purrs are both stronger and more frequent,” JephriB shared on Reddit. “We love him.”
In another post, he shared how much his wife had wanted to adopt Toby. So, it was a dream come true for everyone.
“After wanting one for 15 years, my wife got to finally adopt a cat yesterday. This is how I just found them together when I went upstairs to check on the cat,” JephriB posted.
Recently, the orange tabby got a new fluffy bed which arrived in the mail. As you can see, he took to the bed right away.
Toby Felinederson and The Office
Under another comment, JephriB humorously clarified the inspiration for the cat’s name.
“I decided to name him Toby Felinederson as he reminds me of Toby from The Office. They are both ginger, soft-spoken, non-confrontational, mild-mannered, and neither have any balls.”
As another person hinted, the Office character is the subject of a popular fan theory that Toby is the Scranton Strangler.
“Is your cat also secretly a serial killer?” they asked.
“Aren’t all cats?” JephriB responded.
Thus, it seems this kitty has become part of a loving family who also enjoys a sense of humor! We wish Toby and the family a lifetime of loving memories, cuddles, and biscuit-making.
