Those of us who love cats know just how clever they really are. That may best be exemplified by this cute kitten who could easily be named “Houdini.” It’s a name that definitely fits. The crafty feline almost looks like she is auditioning for the next Mission Impossible movie. She busts a move as smooth as anything Tom Cruise can pull off and before you know it, she’s free as a furry (not feathered) bird.

As you can see from the photo above, this little inky-colored feline really is that cute. And in a viral video, we see her stretch one paw outside the cage to manipulate the lock while simultaneously using the other paw to push the door open. This, folks, is kitten ingenuity at its 100 percent Grade A finest.

While the hilarious escape happened in July at the Atascosa County Animal Control in Jourdanton, Texas, this adorable baby is still awaiting a home.

In a Facebook post, the shelter described the brazen escape this way:

“Every now and again we have above average pets that come in through the Atascosa County Animal Control. Such is the case with this resourceful cat. She figured out how to get out of our escape-proof cages.”

This Tiny Feline’s Story Reminds Us Of Another Famous Escapee.

And it even involves another cat at a shelter in Texas. We’re talking of course, about the irrepressible Quilty, who gained notoriety for busting himself and his friends out of the pokey.

Friends For Life Animal Shelter Facebook

Quilty gained “solitary confinement” status thanks to his habit of setting himself and his friends free. When the shelter posted his antics on Facebook, social media fame soon followed. His ingenuity led the shelter to comment:

“Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame. Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room. Repeatedly. Several times a day.”

Indeed Quilty and his cohorts became known for all kinds of cat shenanigans. Including some activities that staff quite understandably did not view favorably.

“One of them peed on the receptionist’s mousepad,” Fox26 reports. “Another had used the donation bin we keep upfront as a litter box. Most everything was knocked off the counter.”

Security footage revealed Quilty as the guilty party.

His shelter story has a happy ending and the adorable escape artist found a loving home. But our current as-yet-unnamed kitten escape artist still hopes to find her happy home. If you are seeking a cute feline companion, her ID is 6545, San Antonio Current reports.

We think she’s adorable and she’d be the cutest criminal anyone could ever know. Just keep in mind a perimeter check of your home might be useful to keep her from performing additional magic tricks. May this cutie find a happy home and all the love she deserves.
