Well it’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the scent of pumpkin spice permeates the air and the firemen take off their shirts. Wait, what? Yup, you read that right. If you’ve followed our pages for a while, you may recall that I had to begrudgingly cover this story last year. Ugh. Spreading the word about lifesaving heroes that decided to help raise money for animals?! My job is honestly rough. Then a generous organization reached out to let us know their Australian Firefighters Calendar 2020 “Cat” edition was out. And I dropped everything to start on my “research”.

But you may be wondering how a calendar of shirtless men could possibly help animals?

And the team responsible for bringing the successful idea to fruition have the numbers to back it up.

With a proud 27 year history of helping those in need, the Australian Firefighters Calendar has now become the world’s most popular calendar.

Since 1993 firefighters from around Australia’s Urban, Rural, Armed Forces, Aviation and corporate fire-fighting services have been coming together to create the world’s most iconic calendar.

Since its inception the Australian Firefighters Calendar has donated over $3 million dollars to various charities around Australia with $1.9 million dollars of that being donated in the past 5 years alone.

I purrsonally love the direction that they choose to focus on fundraising for this year.

“We felt that it was important to help some of the smaller charities that the public never hears about. These grass roots organisations work tirelessly in their local community making a huge difference to people’s lives,” David Rogers–Director–Australian Firefighters Calendar.

And it’s not just the Australian firemen who were included the 2020 calendar either.

It seems these good-hearted men can be found in every corner of the globe. Thankfully for the rest of us, we can simply hang the daily reminder on our wall for a happy 365 days.

This year the calendars also feature firefighters from France & Germany. Next year firefighters from all over the world will take part in the worlds first International Firefighters Calendar!

Please, please, please let there be an online contest to pick the finalists!! A dollar to vote and a “thank you” coupon for the calendar would be a good way to raise even more money. Feel free to take that idea.

It’s all about finding the purrfectly balanced co-star to really highlight the beautiful and gracious main attraction; the cat that is.

For those of you who may not be “feline-friendly”, there are plenty of other themes to choose from. Such as…

The 2020 Firefighters Calendar ‘Classic Calendar’

2020 Firefighters Calendar ‘Wildlife Calendar’

Specifically for the equestrian admirers, the 2020 Firefighters Calendar ‘Horse Calendar’

2020 Firefighters Calendar ‘Farm Animal Calendar’

And don’t worry, they didn’t forget about man’s “best” friend. 2020 Firefighters Calendar ‘Dog Calendar’

So what’s better than getting a sneak peak behind the scenes with the firemen during the annual shoot?

I mean, not much. But then you meet the actual stars of the shoot–the felines. And these aren’t just any felines, they are Bindi and Boomer from Catmantoo. They just happen to be from one of the most talented cat families in the world.

Their human servant, Robert Dollwet is a professional animal trainer and behaviorist with more than 35 years of experience.

In 2012, with most things moving online, Robert seized an opportunity by realizing that cats were more prominent on the Internet. He adopted a rescue kitten and named her “Didga”. Fast forward to today Didga is the most talented cat in the world, holds a Guinness World record! Plus she has a few hundred million video views around the Internet, and over a million followers on Facebook alone.

Robert’s message is: “Adopt, don’t shop”, “Don’t declaw” and “Protect your cat and the environment by keeping your cats indoors”. Robert also provides creates video tutorials to help cat owners learn the proper way to teach their cat tricks or fix behavioral issues.

Honestly, does it matter that you may have to have multiple calendars for 2020?

You’ll need one for home, work, school, Cole & Marmalade’s calendar (coming soon!), another for the kitchen, the car….ok, maybe not. But it’s for charity, so the more the merrier!

Be sure to follow them on all their social media pages for all the hottest updates. One more thing though…they are also available as greeting cards! Let us know what version–or versions–you ordered!
