When an adorable cross-eyed kitty came into the Animal Care & Control San Francisco, the staff knew he was something special.
Gorgeous Belarus was surrendered to the shelter in May due to “landlord issues”, an all too common problem in America. Many cat servants have trouble finding housing that will allow their feline family members and many times high pet fees are required.
This makes the forced decision to surrender a beloved pet more heartbreaking to families. Sadly when there is no other option, doing what is best for the cat, IS best.
Even though Belarus’s first home couldn’t be his furever home, the shelter did everything they could to ensure he found the purrfect fit. Sharing his photo on their social media sites, it was easy to see this gentle fellow would be swooped up in no time!
Belarus has the unique trait of crossed-eyes, which just make him all the more intriguing. Complete with a fluffy, expressive tail he greets everyone with love and snuggles. Apparently he even likes his canine cousins!
Followers on the shelters Facebook page were more than willing to step up and help. One person even mentioned they worked as a flight attendant and would happily transport Belarus free of charge if his new family was not local; how generous?!
BREAKING UPDATE!
Just yesterday, only two weeks after the original post by SF Animal Care, Belarus has found a new home! The first photos of happy Belarus and his new mom were just shared for his quickly growing fan club.
Purrhaps the shelters creative slogan helped? <3
“Love isn’t blind- it’s cross eyed. #GooglyEyes”
What a lucky family to be able to offer this worthy cat a home to match.
The shelter has promised to let everyone know if his new family decides to create any social media pages for Belarus. We’re sure everyone would love to follow this handsome cats adventures through life.

Belarus is a beautiful boy. I wish I could have given him a FOREVER home. Unfortunately, I have a possessive, loving and wonderful fur person who probably would have said no.

Belarus is adorable!! I’m glad he has found his forever home. He seems to be a sweet kitty, and I feel sad that his people had to get rid of him. I’m sure he will be loved and adored by his new family.??
