A rare four to five-month-old female ginger kitten, later named Nala, was roaming a Southern PA neighborhood when a woman saw her outside a restaurant. Her ears were frostbitten from the cold, and she suffered from worms, but her whole world was about to change.
“I stayed with her outside for 3 hours in 40-degree weather in hopes of rescuing her,” Ellen explained on TikTok.

After two days of gaining the kitten’s trust, Ellen was finally able to bring the shy baby home.
“She was so scared of me, but she was so hungry,” she explained.
There was an instant connection, and it was like the kitten was meant to be part of the family.
Foster Fail in Two Weeks
Later, Ellen learned that the kitten might have been one of a litter of kittens dumped outside the same restaurant in January. While rescuers managed to catch her siblings, it’s possible that Nala escaped and was surviving on her own with heavy snow at times.
Next, Ellen kept the kitten in a garage for a quarantine to keep her resident cats safe. But the kitten soon warmed up and enjoyed being petted. She was too cute, and the kitten went from “feral to foster fail in two weeks.” The cuteness was just too powerful, and her foster mama was smitten.
“Throwback to a few days after we brought Nala home, and she was still in the garage before we even knew her gender. We were just calling her ‘kitten.’ How precious is she!?”
Finally, a veterinarian gave the green light that the kitten could come inside the home. She immediately jumped into her new human’s lap and nuzzled her.
“This is your forever home moment,” Ellen shared with The Dodo. “That was when I knew I had to keep her.”
Introducing Nala to Diggle and the Other Pets
After being spayed and recovering, the ginger cutie would need to be slowly introduced to the resident 5-year-old ginger cat, Diggle. Ellen followed the sage advice of Jackson Galaxy on cat introductions, she says. So, they kept the two separated by a door for quite a while. Diggle wanted so badly to go inside and kept leaving toys at the door.
The cats played by sticking their paws underneath the door, a familiar scenario for when Cole and Marmalade met for the first time.
For weeks, Diggle waited until it was finally time to meet face to face. That’s when Diggle saw her and fell head over heels for the sweet kitten – just like Ellen.
What could have been a scary moment seems meant to be. It was so perfect that Ellen believed the cats must have known each other in a past life.
These Two Knew Each Other in a Past Life
The wee kitten also met her new dog siblings and a cat named Oliver, but she preferred Diggles, and the feeling was mutual.
When Ellen shared a TikTok of Diggles flirting with the kitten, it went mega-viral, reaching millions of views. They kiss and even “slow blink” at each other.
“Everyday I’m more convinced these two knew each other in a past life.”
“I hadn’t seen the cats for hours which is rare. So I go upstairs to look for them and I find them like this. Holding hands! How are they so cute. Someone explain,” she shared on Facebook.
Today, Nala Meets World looks back on all the wonderful things that happened since rescuing the suffering kitten.
“I wish for every feral kitty outside they can have a story like Nala’s 💕🥺”
