Every cat in the universe deserves the best life possible. Especially if they are a little bit testy going from outdoors and feral to an indoor life.
Meet Hank
“Can you help me?”
Hank lived in Lake Worth, Florida when he was found on the streets as a feral kitten. He is adorable in his fluffy black and white tuxedo, but at first glance, no one would have been able to tell!
The poor boy had severe mange and some health problems. But none of that was stopping him from being the best survivor he could be in the palm tree state. Finally, one day his angel came for him. A woman named Maria saw Hank’s situation and was able to trap him. She took him right away to the Canal Animal Hospital to get him the care he so needed. The hospital was able to help cure him of mange, get him neutered, and also found that baby Hank was FIV positive.
“This is definitely better than being on the street! More food please.”
Hank went from matted, crusty fur to looking like the majestic floofy prince he is. Even though he was getting all the love and care a kitty’s little heart could ever desire, there was one problem. Hank was ready to be released, but he didn’t have a home. Although being FIV+ is NOT a death sentence, it can be spread to other cats through fighting. And the street life is a tough life.
“Hey…wutcha doin’ out there?”
This led Maria to come up with an idea. Since she was visiting her parents at the time, she explained the story and Hank’s plight to them. Thankfully, Maria’s father offered to take the precious boy in.
He’s Not Happy About It, But Loves Being An Indoor Cat
“Does this make me a present if I lie under the tree?”
Maria went to the owner of Animals Friends Project Inc., Carmen, for some help. She asked about getting a crate to transport Hank to her father’s home and that’s when things got a little dicey. Carmen went to deliver the crate to Maria and noticed something wasn’t right with Hank.
He was very vocal, growling and unhappy. It turns out that Hank wasn’t very sociable. He was downright unfriendly. With Maria’s father needing to care for her mother, Hank wasn’t the best kitty for them to have in their home. So off he went to be fostered by Carmen’s sister Naomi instead. He made his way to Massachusetts to try and find his forever home.
Well it ended up that his forever home was with his foster mom!
He gradually became friendly with other kitties, but still was very much not into being a lap cat or being friendly to anyone else. Hank enjoyed being a indoor cat, lounging in cushy soft beds, playing with his toys, and boy did he ever love food.
A few years later, Hank passed away surrounded by love and his foster mom. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge knowing he was loved and cared for, even though he wasn’t the friendliest of boys. We send out all the love to those at Animal Friends Project Inc. in this difficult time. And thank you Maria for finding poor Hank when he needed help the most.
Fly high, Hank!
