Two kittens, Dewdrop and Bruce, grew up in foster care since they were tiny bottle babies. While other kittens found homes, the duo didn’t, despite being perfect in every way. But volunteer rescuers would never give up on them. Finally, after a combined 540 days, a family arrived to adopt them both, and everyone was over the moon!

Below is tiny Dewdrop, a house panther in the making, getting lots of love from her foster moms, Keely and Heather T. They give each kitten their all, even putting the kittens’ needs before their own so they can start lives like Dewdrop and Bruce. Although it sometimes takes a long time to find homes, when that day comes, it makes everything worth it!

Dewdrop arrived as a sweet but tiny spring baby with three siblings, who loved crawling all over his foster moms.

“They are so precious and fun,” Heather wrote.

Keely, who has fostered kittens since she was 12 years old, knows that struggle is always part of rescue and goes the extra mile for each furbaby. But there are also so many wonderful moments playing with the foster babies.

“Behind the success of me and my efforts, there is one thing pulling everything together-struggle. Struggle truly is the backbone of what I do, and what all animal rescuers do. Without struggle, there would be no opportunities for animal rescuers to take action,” Keely told Shoutout Socal.

Dewdrop and Bruce Grow Up in Foster Care

As it goes with most rescue stories, many hands were caring for Dewdrop and Bruce. When fully weaned, Dewdrop went to another foster home in the San Diego area. That’s when Dewdrop met Bruce and they became besties.

They waited for a family to adopt them, and the wait lasted such a long time. By then, they were beyond the “cute kitten” stage. They grew up together in their foster home with many friends. Rescuers from Love Your Feral Felines ensured they had everything they needed thanks to kind supporters.

Dewdrop and Bruce Starter Pack

Unfortunately, potential adopters overlooked Dewdrop and Bruce. As we know, black cats still have a harder time finding homes, although that’s changing. More folks are now fully appreciating how sleek, elegant, and wonderful black cats truly are. They’re as gorgeous as any cat could be, and good luck!

And many folks don’t realize, but such a bonded older duo is ideal in many ways. They’ve learned ‘how to cat,’ and their energy levels don’t tend to be as full throttle as young kittens. So, the reality is such an older duo is the ideal starter pack for folks wanting to adopt cats! More folks should really consider such adoptions.

Over the Moon Adoption Day

At long last, Love Your Feral Felines shared the big day when Dewdrop and Bruce went home together. Yes, it took a long time, but it was all worth it to see them embark on the next chapter of their lives.

“We’re over the moon to share the incredible news that Bruce and Dewdrop, two of the longest-term residents at LYFF, have found their forever home together! Bruce has been a part of the LYFF family for 228 days and Dewdrop’s journey with LYFF began 312 days ago,” LYFF shared.

“Finding the purfect furever family may take some time, but the joy of seeing these two embark on their new chapter in life is truly heartwarming. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible family who opened their hearts to Dewdrop and Bruce, and a special shoutout to our dedicated volunteers who poured all the love and care in the world into these cats. Here’s to Bruce, Dewdrop, the adopting family, and our amazing volunteers who made this adoption possible!” shared Love Your Feral Felines.
