Adorable Grey Kitten Is The Newest Star On Hit Show “Outlander”

Whether you’re a fan of the Starz hit drama Outlander or not, you’re going to appreciate the show’s most recent choice in casting. With new episodes set to come out February 2020, Outlander cast and crew have been working hard on their fifth season. The historical time travel series is based off a collection of novels written by author Diana Gabaldon. The star-studded cast includes well know human actors. Scottish actor Sam Heughan and Irish actress Caitriona Balfe to name only a few.

But right now, the world is obsessed with a smaller, slightly furrier cast member. His name is Adso. And it’s safe to say this adorable kitten is going to be everyone’s favorite character. And by the looks of their social feeds, Sam and Caitriona are perfectly okay with that.

Starz first teased the feline’s casting on Twitter back in May. They said,

“We have a very im-purr-tent casting announcement…who could it be??”

Fans of the original books knew instantly who they were talking about. Adso first makes his appearance in the fifth novel in the Outlander series, The Fiery Cross. Main character Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) finds the little kitten and decides to bring him home. He gives the cat to his wife, Clair (played by Caitriona Balfe), and the family’s newest pet doesn’t take long to steal hearts.

Jamie names the kitten Adso after a cat his late mother once owned, and the spunky gray feline takes up the role of household hunter. He keeps the house clear of rodents and gets several other scenes within the book.

The real-life Adso’s introduction on Twitter was met with much-deserved applause.

Fans commented saying,

“This is the only casting that matters!”

“Wee Adso! Awwwww! Purrrrrfect casting!”

Sam Heughan seems particularly smitten by his co-star. He’s posted several images to his Instagram. He and Adso don’t seem to mind sharing the show’s role of “leading man.”

Members of the cast and crew have also been ogling the cute feline. Balfe said in an interview,

“It does create a lot of distractions because we all just want to play with the cat instead of doing any work.”

The Outlander Twitter account even changed its description to say, “Now an Adso fan account.” We can’t judge little Adso’s acting abilities until we see him in the new season in February, but we’re confident he’s going to be a star.

But of course that is, when he’s not taking naps on set or posing for the “pawparazzi”.
