Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you know that Taylor Swift is a superfan of all things cats. She’s got some of her own, she rocks cat accessories on the reg, she talks about and shows off her cats endlessly, and pretty much everything else you can expect from a devoted cat mom. So, when she was selected as one of Time’s 100 – Most Influential People (again), they sat down with this #crazycatladyforlife to ask her what her life’s biggest inspirations are. And in true cat lover fashion, her top answer was purrfection.
Take a look and see for yourself what she had to say about purrfection in the video below.
Taylor’s music might not be your purrsonal favorite, but all cat lovers can agree that this is one crazy cat lady indeed! Want to check out her latest video for her instant hit ME! featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco fame? Check it out below!
And even if it’s not your cup of tea, you’d be happy to know that Ms. Swift adopted one of the shelter kittens straight off the set that day who was in search of a home. That is Purrfection in our book! Little Benjamin Button the kitten joins Taylor’s growing clowder of cats, which includes her two Scottish Fold cats: Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey. (That’s from Law & Order: SVU and Grey’s Anatomy, in case you were curious/unaware.)
Looks to me like little Benjamin Button is in pure kitten bliss with his new human:
She first broke the news of her new kitten on Twitter, and later revealed him to her 116m followers on Instagram the next day. If you happen to check out her social media accounts, it’s a healthy dose of catdom purrfection with some music stuff sprinkled in, and we thank her for that.

People magazine reports how Benjamin Button came to be the latest addition to her growing cat clan, which Swift explained during an Instagram live session she did with P!ATD. During the video, she said:
“He was just a cute kitten who didn’t have a home,” she explained, adding that he was part of a program that “tries to get cute kittens adopted by putting them in commercials and stuff.”
And when the kitten’s handler asked Swift if she wanted to hold the cat before they shot their music video scene together, the rest was history:
“She handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and … he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love. I looked at Brendon and he’s like, ‘You’re going to get the cat aren’t you?’ “
Urie chimed in shortly after, agreeing that it was meant to be for Swift and the homeless kitten.
“It was truly love at first sight, love at first purr,” Urie added. “You did not stop. It was just adorable,” he says to Taylor.
It’s clear to see that Taylor Swift’s smitten with her new babies purrfection.
But we’re wondering what the kitten’s two oldest housemates are going to think now that they won’t be getting all of their mommy’s undivided attention…
Hopefully they will all get along just fine, and we are happy that Taylor chose to #adoptnotshop for her latest cat. Hats off to you, Taylor, you crazy cat lady.
And if you’re eager to see the Broadway classic, Cats, at the movies, you’ll have to wait until its release date on December 20, 2019. The film adaption is directed by Les Misérables director Tom Hooper, and it features a number of familiar voices, including Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Rebel Wilson, Idris Elba and more!
