In April, we shared an amazing tale with you about a very special cat.

A 7 year old, orange and white, beauty of a feline named Toby had been on quite a journey.

After a number of years, his “fur-ever” family decided they didn’t want him any longer.

He was given to another local family but unfortunately got out or was placed outside.

This loyal and loving cat missed his original owners and made the 12 mile trek back to their home!

Devastatingly, upon his arrival they promptly took him to the Wake County Animal Center and requested he be euthanized!

Thankfully the North Carolina shelter refused but took the deserving cat in.

They reached out to the SPCA of Wake County who greeted the cat with open arms.

When he was brought in, Toby was found to be FIV+ and have a cold.

He was given medication and allowed to rest after his ordeal and is feeling much better.

The 2nd family has not stepped up to reclaim the poor soul, which is likely for the best.

Gorgeous, but shy Tony is still at the SPCA of Wake county awaiting his furever home.

He is working on trusting other cats again but this may be slow going.

It will likely be best that he find a new home where he can be an only cat and learn to love at his pace.

No one can imagine what he went through on a 12 mile journey alone, sad and confused.

PAWSOME NEWS!

After his story was shared on social media Toby was ADOPTED and you can now follow him on Instagram meow too! #AdoptDontShop

New UPDATE:

After such a heartbreaking start, now that Toby’s found the purrfect home, he’s absolutely loving life!

Even more wonderful…he’s got a new little brother to share it with <3

The family was fostering a kitten with the intention of him joining another home.

Then Toby met him and it was decided right then and there.

Apparently he has warmed up to the idea of a feline friend.

The fluffy baby boy named Chip would remain with their family!

“Watching the two of them together was amazing. It was like we had a motor boat in our house from all the purring.”

Don’t worry! The other family isn’t going to be left Kitty-less. Their family will be getting another brother too still.

So now, Toby is teaching Chip the rules of the house…and how to avoid being caught breaking them!

Toby is happily enjoying the indoor lifestyle with a family that whole-heartedly loves him.

They’re sure to take him on walks though. Just a bit shorter and safer walks.

We’re so happy that Toby has his new family and that Chip is part of that now.

Thank you also to his purrents for sharing his adorably fluffy face on their Instagram page. No doubt the other 63,000+ followers agree with us!
