Are you planning on the purrfect way to propose to your partner? Well, if you’re ready to make lifetime commitments, you might consider what a lovely couple from Colorado did!

Purrfect Proposal For a Cat Lover?

Longtime sweethearts Angela and Jordan were finally ready to start a new chapter in life. They had just moved into their first home, and Jordan knew he had to make his proposal something to remember for a lifetime! His bride-to-be is an animal lover and he knew she would be over the moon to adopt a furbaby.

As they approached a bed, Angela saw there was an overturned basket sitting there. Right away, she was overcome with joy, putting her hands to her mouth. She must have had a feeling it was the kitten she was dreaming about inside. As she lifted the basket, she could still hardly believe it, pausing as the emotions overcame her.

Lifting the basket away, a beautiful kitten greeted her for the first time. She was instantly smitten and engaged with the fluffy ragdoll. But she was so distracted that she didn’t notice Jordan was patiently waiting behind her on one knee. He was ready to be engaged, too!

As excited as he was, he gave her all the time she needed to fully appreciate the moment. Once more, Angela’s hands went to her mouth as she turned to thank Jordan. But just as her heart was overflowing, she got another surprise of a lifetime!

Engaged with Toby the Kitten

Online, the videos of the cute moment went viral. Naturally, everyone wanted to know more about the kitten. So, Angela shared they named the cutie Toby, or “little toby toe beans.” And everyone was also delighted to see her beautiful engagement ring!

Adopting Toby made the day of the couple’s engagement even more unforgettable. He arrived at just the right time, when his Mom and Dad were overcome with pure joy and ready to say “I do” to a lifetime together.

Like all kittens, Toby has quickly grown up in the blink of an eye. But the memory of the day she met him will always be a treasured one.

A Proposal for Blissful Newlyweds

The touching proposal drew thousands of comments on TikTok and a Michigan Newlyweds magazine.

Giving Kittens To New Brides

A couple of people said the proposal reminded them of a Norse custom: giving brides a cat as a symbol of the goddess Freya. As it turned out, Angela had seen the same thing a week prior to Jordan’s proposal!

“The Vikings kept cats for their valuable skills as mousers as well as keeping cats for pets. Kittens were sometimes given to new brides as an essential part of setting up a new household,” shared the Viking Answer Lady.It is especially appropriate that brides should receive cats, since cats were associated with Freyja, the goddess of love.”

Freya’s chariot was powered by two powerful “Forest Cats,” or Skogkatt or Huldrekat in Denmark. But they are commonly depicted as ordinary house cats. Likewise, ancient Egyptians associated cats with goddesses like Bastet and with protecting the home, childbirth, and family.

A Dream Proposal

Many others said this was their “dream proposal,” including one woman who said she wouldn’t wait for any man to adopt her first kitten! So long as you’re ready to be a cats’ guardian forever, then go for it (Adopt don’t shop!).

Others said knowing the kitten was from a rescue or shelter would have made it even more purrfect. As always, we agree! We previously shared the story of a Tampa-based company, FairyTail Pet Care, that partners with rescues to help find shelter pets homes at weddings! They also helped couples include their pets on their wedding day.

Pets are family and make our lives so much more joyful every day!
