Sometimes the world needs a reminder that life is precious. And that there are humans out there are aren’t jaded by whatever they’ve been through in life. What’s even more special about these humans are when their loving actions motivate others. It’s when they are so focused on their life-saving mission that they don’t care how they are perceived. Granted, I have the feeling most people on the NY subway system aren’t worried about how they look to others. They are so busy going about their day, that it’s just white noise around them. But during a pandemic, the subways aren’t as busy some days.

So when a woman on a NY subway spotted a man bottle-feeding a neonatal kitten, she knew she was witnessing a precious moment.

And the best part for the rest of us? She captured the image on camera and shared it with the world.

It was on October 26th, 2020 that Gillian Rogers of NY, posted the photo on her Facebook page.

When you see a guy bottle feeding a kitten on the subway….❤️

What she didn’t expect was that her post would go viral, being shared more than 13 thousand times! People need this in their lives right now and the timing was purrfect. News outlets picked up on the story and the rest is history. Adorable, mysterious history.

Because while Gillian approached the man to express her gratitude for what he was doing on the subway, she never got his name.

I posted a picture of a man bottle feeding a kitten a few days ago. It went viral, and as a result The Dodo did an article. I hope that this man sees how his act of kindness has resonated with millions of people. He was not sitting there taking selfie’s, he was completely rapt in the moment. What a special human being.

“He was bottle-feeding her,” Rogers told The Dodo. “You could see the caring. My heart felt like it was going to explode to see someone with that much caring. He was so in the moment.”

The man told her that he had discovered the kitten alone on the NY streets. It had been hiding between buildings and he knew he couldn’t just leave it there. I AM very curious how he knew it needed a bottle/formula and to be fed. In the world of rescue you may have those things in your home for an emergency.

But this gentleman likely was not carrying a nursing bottle and kitten milk replacer around in his backpack. Which means that he made the effort to go get the required supplies all for a tiny homeless kitten he just found.

That is the kind of compassionate human that we should all strive to be.

“The kitten was looking up at him as he fed her,” Rogers said. “It was so heartwarming. I told him, ‘Thank you.’ It was truly a special moment. When I got off the train, I felt like I was walking on air,” Rogers said. “I felt joyful — like, it renewed my faith in humanity. There are still decent people out there.”

Gillian was so effected by this because she also knows first hand what goes into caring for bottle baby kittens. Because she is the founder of the non-profit organization, Pet Rescue Squad Inc.

Pet Rescue Squad Inc networks at risk online pets to rescues around the country. We provide resources to those that may be able to keep their pets, whether it be transport, low cost vet, landlord advice or training. As a 501C4 cruelty intervention organization we report any unlawful or suspicious activity to necessary authorities. We assist with animal cruelty cases on a case by case basis.

With volunteers helping from around the country, we have no physical address at this time. We can be reached at petrescuesquadinc@gmail.com or through the page. We do not have a phone number. Please visit us at www.petrescuesquadinc.org

Thank you so much to Gillian for sharing this touching image for the world to enjoy.

I hope that this inspires others to see the beauty all around us, even on the NY subways. And that you CAN take action to help suffering and homeless animals. People do NOT think it’s crazy, or that as a male doing it, it makes you less of a man.

Because I can guarantee that if we knew who this hero was, his dating calendar would be full of cat loving suitors! 😉

REMEMBER: BE A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS & PETS ARE FAMILY TOO!
