A new life awaits seven sphynx cats rescued from a horrendous life. It was on the evening of July 3rd, 2025 when the UK police were notified about a smell coming from an abandoned home. And what they discovered inside broke hearts around the world. 
Abandoned Sphynx Cats Rescued
When they entered the home, the shock from the smell wasn’t the worst discovery. It was the seven sphynx cats that were ‘living’ in the squalor. Knowing they needed experienced rescuers, they called The Cat Welfare Group. The rescue team rushed to the scene. The photos they later shared on their social media page was devastating. Some we didn’t share as they show the overflowing litter boxes and walls lined with feces. Videos are dotted with flies, buzzing around the filth. But for the felines trying to survive, their lives were about to finally start.
Inside, they found a scene of pure neglect. Seven Sphynx cats – 3 boys and 4 girls – had been left alone for weeks. The conditions were truly shocking, beyond filthy: cat mess covered the floor, the carpet had been eaten away, and flies were everywhere. These poor cats had been surviving in silence, with a mound of dry food, no water, no comfort, and no care.
We are full, but we simply could not leave them there so some of our amazing team of volunteers went straight to the house and worked alongside authorities to get all seven cats out safely. These gentle, trusting cats have been through hell and yet still had love to give to those who rescued them.
No Fur, But Full of Love
They were immediately taken to the vet for urgent checks and care, which is where they still are. All have had thorough checks, the smallest and most malnourished girl is just 1.4kg. All are filthy and have ears thick with gunk.
We are now reaching out to breed specialists and need to urgently find foster homes where they can heal, rest and feel safe.A huge thank you goes to the Sphynx Cat Association and The Sphynx Cat Club, who stepped in without hesitation. Thanks to their incredible support, all seven cats are now safe and together in foster care, finally experiencing warmth, kindness, and full bellies.Now we look to the next step – helping them heal fully. Each cat will need to be neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, at a cost of around £150 each. And with hungry tummies to fill, there are food costs to cover in the coming weeks.
