This story brings cuteness to the extreme! But as you watch this lovely family of cats, consider that they almost didn’t make it. It’s another reminder to spay and neuter pets because the vast majority out there won’t have this chance to experience what it’s like to live in a loving home. Mama Hadley and her trio of kittens from Houston, Texas, were among the luckiest few.

Mama Hadley Was a Kitten Herself

In reality, Hadley was just a kitten herself, several months old and already having babies. Unfortunately, it’s common for stray and feral cats. The pretty marbled tabby was so thin and trying her best to care for her three kittens which she never asked for. But then, things went from bad to worse!

Hadley ended up in an overcrowded Houston shelter where they had no room left. Each week, hundreds of animals like her arrived, and it’s wasn’t physically possible to care for all of them.

A Tiny Spare Bathroom Was All the Space They Needed

If someone didn’t agree to take this cat family, they all faced euthanasia on a Monday. Yet they were all relatively healthy! Thankfully, Hadley and her babies made it out alive. Even though foster mom Erin Berger was also near full capacity at home, she couldn’t say no, making what little room she had left to give these kitties a life. As it turned out, all they needed was a “tiny spare bathroom” along with their generous foster provider.

It’s a good reminder that you don’t need much room to provide for a mama cat and her kittens. And Erin got the support she needed from Houston’s Rescued Pets Movement.

“Welcome Mama Hadley and her three kittens. They were mere hours away from euthanasia today at an overcrowded Houston Shelter. So many did not make it out alive today, but I’m glad we were able to save Hadley and her family,” she shared.

Hadley and Her Trio Thrived

Did you know that kittens can become pregnant as early as three to four months old, like Hadley? Thus, they’re just kittens themselves and generally struggling to find enough nourishment for themselves, much less more kittens.

But given a safe home, Hadley proved an ameowzing mother, and the little family thrived in the tiny bathroom area.

“Hadley and kittens are thriving! I’m so glad they were saved from euthanasia. Please spay/neuter your pets and adopt, don’t shop, so more lives like these can be saved 🙏🏻❤️.”

Cuteness Ensues in the Foster Nursery

Once Erin’s previous foster babies found homes, Hadley and her babies got a larger area to explore.

When she needed a break, Hadley could leap out of the safe, clean enclosure to look out a window and visit with her foster mom. This mama was so very affectionate and thankful for her foster mom, enjoying lots of belly and head rubs. She also enjoyed watching TV!

Meanwhile, the trio of playful, happy kittens were reaching the potato belly stage, with one of them spotted like her mama.

As you can see, there are no cares in the world; the life every kitten deserves.

Watching them roll and snuggle in the soft blankets is a joy, such a reward for giving them a place to call home.

“A morning with Hadley and her kittens 🥰 They are doing so well and everyone is finally gaining weight!”

Time with the Foster Kittens Is Purr-ecious

As foster providers, the hardest thing is saying goodbye. But letting go opens the door to save so many more lives.

“Because the population here is already so out of control 😢by getting them out of here, we can make room for the Texas animals that aren’t safe yet,” Erin explained.

One day, there there was a delay in sending the kitties on their way to find homes, and it came as a relief for Erin. With any extra time, she could watch the kittens growing up before her eyes. However, it didn’t exactly make it easy to get any work done!

“Hadley and kittens were supposed to leave on Thursday, but I just found out they are staying with me a bit longer! I have to say I’m secretly kinda happy about that 😆 I love them so much!”

Absorbing Every Second with the Foster Fam

While the kittens continued growing up in the blink of an eye, their foster mom made the most of the time they had together. Then, it was time to send them off into the world knowing they were strong and loved.

“I’m not sure yet when they are leaving me for their new homes, but I’m absorbing every second until then!!” she said.

One morning, Hadley and her trio of cuties said goodbye, off to bring a lifetime of joy to their forever families. Looking back, there are always the baby pictures and videos that capture the cuteness furever. And what a joy to know they are out there loving life!
