Playing games with our cats is always a highlight of the day. But as a suggestion, we probably wouldn’t try to make it too organized. If you try to have a game night with your cat, things might not go as planned!
As we know, cats have their own ideas about how to play. Despite giving them an array of every sort of toy, it’s often the simplest things that win out: a cardboard box or that ring off the milk container. And as for rules – pffffft! What rules? One of the things we love most about cats is they are full-on anarchists when it comes to the rules.
Nevertheless, one comedian from Sacramento decided to demonstrate game night with his pets. Years later, the results are still going viral on the internet.
Game Night With a Cat
Comedian Brandon Farris demonstrated how it goes if one ‘seriously’ attempts to have game night with a cat.
Brandon and adopted kitten Zelda attempted to play the Uno card game as well as the Monopoly board game. The fluffy kitten was adorably entertaining to watch (see videos below). Certainly, she was interested in the cards and board game pieces. She especially loved the Monopoly houses exchanged for cat treats!
“You owe money for every house and hotel, which you ate!” he exclaimed.
Farris somehow managed not to laugh as Zelda did what any cat would tend to do: whatever the heck they want!
Bad at Games -But Cute!
The two also attempted to play the piano and have a game of Chess. As for the latter, the kitten did have some success with taking out the King. However, she also chewed on her own Queen’s head, too! It was much like her strategy with cards!
When it was her turn, she decisively made a move. Except, well, it wasn’t exactly within the rules.
“Bold move, also illegal!” snapped Farris.
After witnessing all the antics, the cat dad summed it up:
‘You’re bad at games, but you’re cute!’

Game Night Started Right After Adopting Zelda
Zelda and her Dad started game night shortly after he adopted her in 2019.
Here, they are, sort of playing cards, Jenga, Rock, Paper, Scissors, unicorn horns, and an improvised game of ball (video below).
“I won most of the games don’t listen to what she says.. SHE HAD LIKE 3 SEVENS!!”

Zelda and Link ‘Play’ a Strategy Game
In 2019, Farris and his girlfriend made a life-changing decision. They rescued the playful, fluffy grey princess kitty, Zelda Majoria Farris (aka Katttt), from a shelter in Sacramento. In 2020, he adopted a Teacup Yorkie named Link.
That’s when both Link and Zelda joined Dad for game night. This time, they played a game of Cards Against Humanity and Risk. Will they get the hang of the rules? Hey, it’s funny to watch them try! And these funny moments still make thousands laugh today.
“I don’t think any of you are ready for this, mentally!” Farris concluded.
Sadly, Zelda ran away in October 2021, but her memory lives forever on in the games she played with her loving family. Hopefully she finds her way back to the playing field one day. You can follow Brandon on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
