Many people see a struggling kitten or cat on the street and walk on by, particularly if they look unhealthy or sick. Fewer still would see the potential there for a shocking transfurmation into a stunning and healthy meowdel rivaling any cat. With a little love, TLC, and vet care, the scraggliest of cats and kittens have “glow-ups” that regularly leave our jaws hanging open.
A cat you see on the side of the road might look like a ‘puddle on the pavement,’ yet transform into the most spectacular feline you’ve ever seen with time. It’s something to remember when you see a cat out there needing help. While they may look unrecognizable as a cat, love can work miracles faster than you might think!
Never judge a cat by how they look when they’ve been struggling on the streets.

A Kitten Covered in a Yellow Oily Substance
An international rescuer helping stray cats shared a video of a kitten that almost doesn’t look recognizable as a feline. The kitten walked down the street, meowing for help, but nobody helped her. One of the kittens’ eyes was closed from infection, and her fur was coated in some kind of sticky substance.
“She has been asking for help from people on the street and is covered in yellow oily liquid, which is really heartbreaking to see,” the rescuer wrote.
This kitten needed help fast. Fortunately, a kind man went and got her some food and water. As they tried to clean off the oil, they saw that “her color would come off.” The yellow stuff, maybe cooking oil, made her fur look yellowish. But underneath, she was actually snow white with silvery highlights. It gave a tiny hint of a glow-up that is truly unbelievable.
Jaw-Dropping Transfurmation!
Thank goodness this baby went to the vet because the oil could have easily been deadly. Cats that can’t clean it off their fur die from being unable to regulate their body temperature, and the oil itself might be deadly if they try to lick it off. If you find a kitten with oil on their fur, it’s best to act fast. Call your local rescue or vet for advice. A very sick kitten may be too sick for a bath and must always be kept warm. If they are healthy, Dawn dish soap and a gentle warm bath, followed by fully drying and keeping them warm could save their life.
Once this kitten was safe at the veterinarian’s office, they cleaned away all that sticky goo. Warm and dry, she was already looking like a different kitten and slept soundly in her rescuer’s arms. It might have been the first time she had slept in quite a while.
They treated her for ear mites and what they called ‘cat moss,’ which is what we call ringworm caused by fungus. To keep her from scratching, she wore a bright yellow collar.
The Full Glow-Up!
Given time, the kitten’s transformation continued as her infected left eye fully opened. Then, it was a lengthy process of treating the ringworm, which left brown areas on her face and back. But once that cleared, the prettiest kitty emerged, looking nothing at all like the one seen on the street that day.
This kitten has the prettiest sparkling blue gems for eyes.
Safe in her new home, the kind man who helped on the street remained concerned, supplying her with supplies she needed to continue her recovery.
