Here’s the story of Cowboy, a rescued spotted and spangled tabby with the confidence of a fierce jungle animal and the heart of a lion. Cowboy arrived at a rescue, having endured some hard knocks in life. His chin and lip were badly injured. Since he was imperfect and needed expensive surgery, they put him on the euthanasia list at the shelter. That meant he would leave behind his petite and stunningly beautiful spotted sister, Cowgirl.
Just consider that these two were happy, healthy kittens, and yet one bump on the chin put their lives at a crossroads.

Cowboy’s lip looked a sight, but it didn’t bother him at all, really. And he was a rough and tumble tabby, ready for anything that came his way. Even so, it was almost the end of the road. That’s when rescuers at Love Your Feral Felines rode in the rescue, and the cuties found a loving foster home with The 2 Pound Kitten Club.

Cowboy and Cowgirl Ride to Safety
Aside from that bumped-up chin and some oddly short whiskers, the two kittens were doing great, wild and playful as could be. And they were both so pretty with their sleek, agile bodies, spots, stripes, and spangles.
“It’s crazy how smart and agile they both are, too! Maybe we’re just used to the little guys who aren’t coordinated yet, but these two seem exceptionally bright! I mean….they are like little geniuses! They are so exotic-looking, too! Cowboy looks like a Bengal!”
After narrowly avoiding euthanasia, the kittens had zero cares in the world: the home was their Wild West playroom.
“Cowboy and Cowgirl have no cares.”
They were both bold and smart with “huge personalities” who would run across the room for cuddles.
“These two have HUGE personalities! They are bold and smart! I said hi to Cowboy from across the room, and he bolted all the way over to me for some love. They are such cool kitties. I added some pics of his lip so you can see. I think he looks so cute. Cowgirl LOVES our dogs and lays with them all the time, too. Such awesome kitties ,and you can just feel how thankful they are to be safe and loved,” said Heather.
Cowboy Plays All Night After Surgery
The day finally came for Cowboy to have surgery on his wonky lip injury. And, wouldn’t you know, he breezed through it and was playing full throttle immediately afterward. Life is just endlessly fun for Cowboy, no matter what comes his way. Surgery? What surgery?
“Cowboy had his surgery today, and he is doing fantastic! 🤠 This brave boy is already feeling so much better and has been playing with his red ball all night! Cowboy is on the road to recovery and all because of your donations that helped save his life. Thank you for making a difference! 🐾🤎” shared LYFF.

Heading Off into the Sunset
As charming as this duo was, it was “one of the hardest goodbyes” when it was time to bid them farewell to the adoption center.
“This was 100% one of my hardest goodbyes. They are such wonderful babies,” said Heather.
The two cuties rode off into the sunset and began new adventures.
First, Cowgirl found a loving family, but at the time of this writing, Cowboy may still be seeking his family in the California area. His foster mom says, “he’s the most wonderful boy.” And he’s very regal and knows it. Yes, it’s unbelievably sad they weren’t adopted together, but finding the purrfect home is the best journey to take.
“If you’ve ever wanted to own a wild beast, I might be the perfect kitty for you. Even though I’m not wild, I have the attitude of a fierce jungle animal and the heart of a lion. I will be your new best friend for my whole life,” his adoption profile says.
