A family welcomed a gorgeous rescued tuxedo cat, Mollymauk Morrison after he chose his adopter in the Des Moines, Washington, area. His name is also a wonderful tribute, as you’ll see.

When LeAnne and her daughter Ally visited the kitten’s foster home, Mollymauk knew instantly the visiting young lady was his new favorite human. He had never purred much before he met the young woman. But soon afterward, he “melted into her” and purred away.

If melting into you isn’t a good sign, what is?

“This boy and his brother were found abandoned at about 6 weeks old and have spent the last few weeks in their foster home, being socialized, de-spiced, and acclimated to the sweet indoor life. We met him about a week and a half ago, and he immediately chose my daughter as his own. He melted into her and even gave her his stamp of ownership: his first purr since being rescued 🖤. We walked out of there with new paw prints on our hearts. And we couldn’t be more thrilled,” LeAnne shared.

Mollymauk Morrison’s Name is a Tribute

Where did the tuxie’s name come from? Ally chose his name from her favorite fantasy character, and LeAnne chose the name Morrison as a tribute to the late beloved rescuer Ashley Morrison, the “Youngest Old Cat Lady.”

A few years ago years ago, Morrison rescued the family’s resident tuxie named Dagger (formerly Cash) along with his sister Mercedes (formerly Bansky) and their feral mama. Ashley found the frightened cats hiding in a bank parking lot in 2021. After giving them lots of love and care, the kittens found homes separately while their mama returned to outdoor life.

“This is the toy Ashley sent home with [Dagger] the day we adopted him, it’s still one of his favorites. He loves it so much, which makes me so happy,” shared LeAnne.

Ashley’s memory became a part of this family along with her furbaby, Dagger.

“Thank you for saving Dagger, your memory will forever be a part of our family through him 🖤,” LeAnne shared.

So, it’s a beautiful tribute indeed to name Dagger’s new friend after his rescuer.

Mollymauk was Always Meant to Be

Just as the family hoped, Mollymauk became fast friends with Dagger, giving his older Tuxie sister, Lucy, a break from his wild antics. That’s right, there are three tuxies in this home!

While Dagger learned how to respect Molly’s boundaries, the kitten gave him the rowdy playmate he’d always longed for. And the affectionate fluffy kitten reminded the family of their beloved kitty Edmund, who crossed the rainbow bridge. Perhaps, Edmund guided them from above to find Molly and bring him home, they wondered. We think it’s entirely possible, and maybe even likely!

“These two boys bring so much joy to my heart. I knew Dagger needed a baby brother and Mollymauk is literally everything we prayed for. They are developing their friendship more and more every day, and it’s so fun to watch!!”

Everyone became obsessed with Mollymauk Morrison’s cuteness.

“May I please bring your attention to:

1. Baby toe fluff emerging

2. How beautifully brown his eyes are

3. The immaculate ear hair that goes for days.

Thank you. That is all. Have a nice day.”

Dagger and his new bestie were picture perfect and loved being together.

“The boys: green eyes & brown eyes 💚🤎”

Adopting Mollymauk Morrison, like Dagger, was always meant to be. He’s perfect, and the family couldn’t be happier together. Most days, the kitties are “elephant stomping,” and “playing across the whole house.”

“He’s perfect 🖤🤍🖤”

It’s beautiful to see that one rescuer’s efforts touched so many lives. Today, Ashley’s mom Cindi and the community they created will continue carrying on her legacy, and touching more lives like they did so deeply for this family. You can see more at Ashley’s Kitten Academy.
