The Catographer AKA Nils Jacobi shared one of his “favorite photography projects” ever, the “glow-up” of a black and white Maine Coon tuxedo kitten. With the sound of a whistle, we see the newborn kitty blossom and then take the Benjamin Button route, reverting to a tiny newborn kitten again. (see video below)
“Every few days, I took new pictures, for months,” Jacobi explained.

All rescuers know kittens grow up in a flash, but we’ve not seen it happen before our eyes quite like this! In reality, the video compiles photos taken over 95 days, but it runs in just 4 seconds. So much work and dedication went into the project as the kitten returned to the German photography studio.
First, you see the kitten in a hand, with eyes still closed. Suddenly, so many more changes are happening:
- The fur is growing so fluffy, particularly on the luxuriant white chest.
- Watch those Maine Coon ears go from tiny nubs to bat-sized!
- The eye color goes from slate to hazel.
- At one point, some whiskers disappear!
While three of these are expected, the whiskers were lost because one of the kitten’s siblings chewed them, as Jacobi shared on Instagram.

Behind the Scenes Kitten Glow-Up
A longer version of the video shows the behind-the-scenes as Jacobi worked with a woman to carefully document the kitten’s glow-up over 95 days.
“The floof is growing. Mini floof to middle floof 😍 I am excited to see high-end floof 😍,” one person commented on Instagram.
By the end, the kitten became such a beauty and is undoubtedly blossoming into a gorgeous Maine Coon. However, this kitten’s full reveal will have to be left to our imaginations since Jacobi says the adopted family moved away.
On the other hand, the kitten’s three siblings moved near The Catographer’s studio. After reaching out to the “pawrents,” he hopes to get a chance to photograph the siblings too. If so, he plans to continue the fun for millions of viewers of the viral TikToks.

The Eyeball Fairy Arrives for Another Kitten
In a previous video, the Catographer shared the glow-up for a calico kitten. This time, we can see the individual days. On day 8, the eyeball fairy arrives, which is right on time, as kittens tend to open their eyes between 2-16 days. Usually, between 3 to 8 weeks old, their eyes change color, typically beginning with a beautiful “kitten blue.”
By 28 days, it’s taking two hands to hold this kitten as they glow-up into a beauty. They really do grow up in the flash of an eye after all.
