Smokey, the three-year-old cat, has traveled more than many people, from two cities in Greece to Paris, France! Smokey came to the New York-based Let’s Be SMART (LBS) rescue, which helps cats in Greece, after a young man couldn’t care for him anymore. The usually bold cat was confused and scared, but the rescuers helped him adjust.
They helped him smell the roses, gave him lots of yummy food, toys, and cuddles.

That’s when they discovered that Smokey loved people and was a big foodie. From then on, he could generally always be found around the kitchen looking like this:
“The adequately named Smokey was definitely a chef in a past life he even has half the moustache to prove it! He loves to hang out in the kitchen and often gets a share in whatever the volunteers are eating,” LBS shared.

Over time, Smokey became so confident and friendly that he became a mascot at the rescue. He had “boss energy” and fancied himself a lady’s man.

Smokey Finds His ‘Matchy Matchy’
When volunteers arrived at the sanctuary in Greece, Smokey was an ambassador, welcoming them warmly. That’s how he met Vic and Loic, two volunteers from France.
When they arrived for the first time, they soon met Smokey, as seen in the picture below.
After many days of cuddling with the friendly kitty, they adopted him and a friend named Peanut, who is blind. Both are “extreme love bugs.”

Vic and Loic are two volunteers from France who have spent quite some time at our shelter! Many cats and different personalities have surrounded them! Some are more calm and introverted, and others are more confident! Smokey is the mascot of the shelter! He is always around us, being a part of everything and demanding attention! Vic has spent many mornings cuddling with Smokey and many evenings eating dinner side by side, so they decided to adopt him! Our team members and Smokey, of course, couldn’t be happier!! The picture we posted when we welcomed Vic and Loic to our volunteer family included Smokey as well! They were meant to be together,” Let’s be SMART shared.

Chef Cat Starts New Life In a Culinary Capital
Then, it was time for the happy family to say adieu and return home to France. It seems fitting the foodie feline found a home in Paris, known worldwide for culinary excellence. Who knows what savory morsels await him in his Parisian home?

We kissed Peanut and Smokey goodbye earlier this week as they traveled to their new home! Vic and Loic fell in love with them while volunteering here and went back to Paris to prepare a perfect home for them! Their anticipation finished, and from now on, they will create unforgettable experiences together!”
