A cat named Arthur waited for a home for seven long months. The poor guy was found with a broken leg by Perry’s Place, the “Heaven on Earth,” rescue in North Hollywood. Arthur was “dumped at a vet clinic to be euthanized,” but now, he’s living large!
“POV: you are a black cat with a broken leg dumped at a vet clinic to be euthanized, but you were finally rescued by the amazing team @perrys_place-la. Then you waited 7 months to find your forever home, and now you live with the legend @macfarlaneseth,” wrote a shelter volunteer.
In 10 years, the rescue has seen over 6,000 cats come through their doors!
The day Arthur was adopted was a great kick-off to their 10 year anniversary. You’ll recognize Arthur’s dad as the multi-talented Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, singer, actor, comedian, producer, animator, director, and writer!
Here is the latest image of Arthur from MacFarlane’s Instagram. Look at those bright golden eyes!
Seth MacFarlane Adopts Arthur
“Arthur found his forever home 😺Congratulations to both Arthur and Seth! What a wonderful way to kick off the 10th year of Perry’s Place,” Heaven on Earth shared on Facebook.
MacFarlane also has a charismatic cat named Hank, adopted in 2016.
“Once again, I’ve acquired a surprise cat. This is Hank.”
Hank had been living alone since his cat Helix passed away several months before adopting Arthur. Seth said Helix was a “one-in-a-million cat” who had a long life but passed away peacefully.
“Helix passed quietly and peacefully today. Loving as could be, friendly to people she knew and people she didn’t, always sociable, always a great hang, busting with personality, and a world-class TV watcher. Goddamn, I will so terribly miss this one-in-a-million cat. She had a good long life, so to all reading this, have a drink tonight and raise a glass in her honor,” MacFarlane shared on Instagram.
But now, Hank has a new buddy to keep him company.
“My new pal Arthur says thanks to the amazing team at @perrys_place_la cat rescue! There are so many great cats there in need of good homes, and the staff is first-rate. Go pay ‘em a visit!” MacFarlane shared.
You have to wonder if the voice actor Seth does voices for the cats and what they sound like!
When Arthur Was Cat of the Week
In December 2022, Arthur was both Cat of the Week and Naughty Cat of the Week at Perry’s Place. Shortly after the holidays, Arthur escaped from his harness, ran down a hall, and hid from the rescuers. Three people managed to get him back out.
“Arthur and Mistery are taking advantage of the fact that Santa’s already come to town. No more Mr. Nice Guy for these kitties. Though they are a bit mischievous, they are quite sweet with caretakers and volunteers. Arthur is even available for adoption! Arthur has spent a lot of time recovering from a leg injury, thanks to his amazing foster home, and you can already tell he’s ready to break free,” the rescue shared.
The MacFarlane Legacy of Helping Animals
In 2011, MacFarlane teamed up with Heaven on Earth to create Perry’s Place, honoring his mother, Anne Perry MacFarlane. She was a school administrator and a lifelong animal lover, devoted to rescuing animals that no one else would help. After she passed away in 2010, Seth created the sanctuary to honor her memory and carry on her rescue work.
Perry’s Place built a state-of-the-art facility and adoption center thanks to the MacFarlane family’s generosity and kindness.
Seth’s sister, actress and singer Rachael MacFarlane, is also involved with Perry’s Place and the annual Heaven on Earth Galas. At the dedication to the rescue, she said she believed her mother’s vibrant energy lives on at Perry’s Place. Actress Amanda Seyfried, who has appeared in MacFarlane productions, also helps support the rescue’s efforts.
“My mother was an avid supporter of animals rights and a lover of all creatures, cats in particular were her true passion,” she said.
