Cat Town, a nonprofit from Oakland, shared the story of Molly, a beautiful gray and white 10-year old cat. You can’t help but be captivated by her lovely green eyes and pretty fur when you see Molly.

For some mysterious reason, we can’t figure out; this stunning beauty has been with the foster family for 955 days! That’s approaching 3 years without finding a forever home. Now, it is probably related to her being an older cat, but as we’ve shared before, older cats are often ideal companions.

For example, someone with older pets may consider an older cat who won’t tire them with non-stop kitten antics. Also, someone who has a quieter home with older kids or facing health issues may prefer an older cat. Generally, older cats are less likely to scratch in rough-and-tumble play. Most of all, older cats, like older people, have a mature purrsonality and character aged like a fine wine.

Nevertheless, Molly hasn’t found the right match yet, even though she was January’s Cat of the Month. That is, until someone out there reads this? Perhaps, someone in the Oakland, CA area will see this and realize Molly is the beautiful Queen they have been looking for?

Molly’s Monday Makeover Takeover!

On Instagram, Cat Town shared the news of Molly’s makeover. Could it be that she hasn’t found a forever home because of marketing? Sometimes, the right pictures and captions can make a huge difference in finding rescued cats a home. Because not only do cat rescuers have to care for cats, but they also have to be marketing geniuses sometimes.

Thus, Cat Town decided to give Molly a new name and a fresh look. What do you think her name should be? Well, you can tell them in the comments.

“Today’s a very special day because it’s not just any Monday — it’s Molly’s Monday Makeover Takeover! Molly has been with us for 955 days, and she still hasn’t found her person — so we’re giving her a fresh look, starting with a new name. Leave your best suggestions down below by Wednesday, January 26. Then we’ll pick our favorite, and share it with you next Monday!”

On their website, Cat Town suggests Molly may do best “in a loving, calm environment with plenty of attention and lots of patience. We think she would be OK with a family who had older teens.” So, if you have prior experience with cats, this kitty could be calling your name.

👑 A Royal Puddle of Love 👑

On their website, Molly’s foster parent describes her as a “puddle of love” once she takes a shine to you.

“Her foster parent describes her as a sweet and shy girl who takes a little bit to warm up to you, but once she knows you’re her person, she’s a puddle of love and will even follow you everywhere.”

As an older cat, she does have some special needs, but nothing unmanageable.

“Molly does have some special needs that can be managed by a responsible adopter. She had tummy issues, but daily brushing and a probiotic with her meals has done the trick and gotten this under control,” they write.

Also, Molly has arthritis and needs medicine to help with the pain.

Now, it just so happens that Molly adores being brushed and treated like royalty. If you brush her, she will give you the royal belly, flopping over to “show her appreciation of your love and care-taking for her.”

“In fact, a luxurious brushing is one of Molly’s favorite things — so is being treated like the princess that she is. She will let you know when she wants attention! She’s very curious and loves to explore her surroundings.”

As a royal kitty, she prefers to be the only pet. And, she likes having the right litter box to help her contain the litter. Certainly, the right person will enjoy treating her like a Queen.

Moreover, she’s vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. What’s not to love?

Although the cute little kittens often get the most attention, cat lovers cherish older cats like Molly. We hope she soon finds the purrrfect forever home! Considering how gorgeous she is, surely it’s just a matter of time.

Remember, there’s an older cat at a shelter near you who may be looking for you right now!
