To look at her now, you wouldn’t know this adorable mama kitty was quite terrified when she and her tiny son were brought to Ashley’s Kitten Academy. While it wasn’t long before she earned the name Scarlet, and her kitten became known as Scout, they quickly realized this poor mama wasn’t feeling well either.

Scarlet has a beautiful face that hides the fact that she was dealing with a high fever and an infected abscess, likely due to a bite from another cat. Like many people, Scarlet seems to just get on with things. But cat foster mom Ashley Morrison, who founded Ashley’s Kitten Academy in Seattle, Washington has plenty of experience fostering cats, knew Scarlet would soon feel better. A round of antibiotics quickly picked up Scarlet’s appetite.

But that’s not all Scarlet needed some “meowtainance” on. At one point, Ashley realized poor Scarlet was missing two upper canine teeth! No one knows how this happened, but thankfully it’s wasn’t hampering her in the slightest.

And she has one of the cutest tongue bleps imaginable!

But This Mama Kitty Was Worried About Her Son.

Scout was so very little. He was really only a few days old when he arrived with his mom. Ashley notes it is quite unusual for a mama cat to come in with just one kitten. It was entirely clear that “this little boy is going to get so spoiled.” What a lovely thought.

It’s so nice to know there are kind people out there doing things like this. And of course, Ashley fell in love with this adorable tyke. He’s so cute, who wouldn’t?

Soon Scout began to realize he was safe and he became every bit as loving as his mom. Being 100 percent kitten, he was a bit stum-bumbly to begin with. But with the excellent care provided by mom, he gained a pound by the time he was just three weeks old.

Both soon understood they were in a good place. And as Scarlet’s wound healed, she began revealing her playful nature.

Both were playing so much, especially rambunctious little Scout, that it became clear they needed more play space. So Ashley gave the duo a larger room.

Shy at first, Scarlet hid. But she couldn’t resist joining her son as he batted toys all over. Soon they were running and leaping and having a blast in their new stomping grounds.

“The last few nights as I laid in bed, I could hear something going on in their room,” Ashley tells LoveMeow.

She decided to put up a camera in the room. And as soon as she did that, she could clearly see Scarlet tossing her toys all over the room, all revved up with a serious case of the zoomies. Then she’d carry the toys back to the bed and share them with Scout.

But the more Ashley got to know this sweet mother and son, the more it became obvious that their bond was very deep. It wasn’t just that Scarlet and Scout are mom and son. They are also best friends. So it was indeed fortunate news that Ashley found someone who wanted to adopt them together.

And now they share their forever home with their mom Naiya. Good news is rarely ever as sweet as this!

Aren’t they beautiful? And somehow adorably silly at the same time? Scout and mama cat Scarlet look so happy — and like they understand they are living in their forever home; together.
