The “Cat Dog,” Mako is a black and white pit bull who acts like a cat in shocking ways. After you see Mako on TikTok or Instagram, you quickly see – he wholeheartedly believes he’s a cat. It’s a case of “when in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

We have frequently seen how cats and dogs can be best buddies, but this takes it to another level!

As you will see, Mako the Cat Dog perches on countertops, the refrigerator, or even atop the kitchen shelves. Sometimes, he sits on top of the fridge when the room is dark. Imagine coming for a late-night snack only to see a large dog looking at you.

To him, there’s nothing unusual here because, in his mind, he’s a cat –really and truly.

‘A Really Weird Little Dude’

In the TikTok below, owners Bethany and Samantha Castiller introduce us to Mako the Cat Dog, who lives with Gizmo and Pecan the cats. Quickly, the video went viral, reaching 14.6M views so far.

“We think he was raised with cats initially because he likes to be on counters and elevated surfaces. I’ve never heard him bark and he’s just a really weird little dude,” says Bethany Castiller on TikTok.

Believing in His Cat-like Reflexes

Now, most dogs couldn’t even begin to do what he’s doing, but he believes, and so it’s possible! And, don’t worry, he’s able to get down from his perches easily too.

Mako the Cat Dog Really Does it Himself!

Now, we all know the skeptics on social media are plentiful. So, naturally, they questioned if Bethany and Samantha were putting Mako in place for the videos. But, no, as you can see below, Mako the Cat Dog springs into the air.

Raised by W̶o̶l̶v̶e̶s̶ Cats

When the Castillers brought Mako home from a shelter, they hoped he would like their cats. At the time, the pit bull was two years old and made eye contact with Bethany and Samantha.

“At the time, he looked like a bobblehead because his head was so much larger than his body, we just thought he was adorable,” they told Bored Panda.

One Big Deluxe Cat

Clearly, there was no need to worry even slightly because Mako the Cat Dog is a “deluxe cat” himself. Today, they are waiting for Mako to start meowing.

“We initially kept the cats in a separate part of the house because we wanted to slowly introduce them to the new dog,” Bethany said. “He started jumping up on the small tables we had around the house, and we thought he was just super excited and full of energy.”

Other Ways Mako Acts Like a Cat

In the videos, you can see that the cats completely accept Mako as he tries so hard to fit in.

What’s even funnier is Mako the Cat Dog imitates cats in other ways. For example, he can be seen sleeping cat-like, stretched out on his back, legs in the air. Other times, he plays with the cat toys.

Eventually, they just started telling people they have three cats. It’s just too much! 🤣

Now the Cats are Acting Like Dogs?

Today, Mako still thinks he’s a cat and fits right in with his cat brothers.

“Just a little lad who loves cats and the refrigerator,” they wrote.

Lately, the cats have begun to behave more dog-like!

“I think they are both having a ✨species crisis ✨”

In this family, Mako, Gizmo, and Pecan are part of the same pack. But, are they dogs or cats? Who knows, and that’s amazing!

Below you can see Mako the Cat Dog’s “life trailer” with the perfect song by “The Pretzels.”
