Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes got engaged on the reality dating game show, the Bachelorette. Moynes won Thurston’s heart after a surprise guest appearance, returning from the previous season. So, he became the first Canadian to win the final rose.
However, there was one more test he would have to pass, and that was meeting Thurston’s cat/son named Tommy. Twelve years ago, she took Tommy home from a park on a whim, calling it the “best decision” of her life. Certainly, this kitty is number one, so it would be a deal-breaker if Tommy objected to Moynes.

Tommy is Thurston’s Main Squeeze
Would Tommy the cat approve of his mom’s new fiancée? Or would the couple’s dreams get scratched out by Thurston’s beloved “main squeeze” kitty? Soon, he would be put to the all-important test at Thurston’s new apartment.

Tommy the Cat Meets Blake Moynes
On Instagram, Thurston shared the moment when Tommy and Blake met in the still-empty California apartment. It would be his first time in the city and his first time meeting Tommy.
“What do you think, Tommy?” asks Thurston as the cat returns from meeting Blake.

How Would Tommy React to Blake?
For a moment, it seems Blake has gotten off on the wrong foot, using what Thurston considered a kissing noise more for dogs.
However, very quickly, we see that Blake is no stranger to cats. He even explains that he’s rubbing Tommy’s cheeks because he knows cats love it. Then, it’s time for the moment of truth when Blake picks Tommy up off the floor, holding the cat with his face near his own. What would happen next? If the cat wasn’t ready, this moment could get ugly fast.
“Awwwww. Was he purring?” says Thurston. “Oh wow, he’s purring loud!” she said.
Sure enough, Moynes won over Tommy, just like that. Watch as Tommy gives his seal of approval to his momma’s new beau.
Blake Moynes – Cat and Dog Daddy
Blake Moynes, 30, is a Canadian wildlife conservationist working to help protect endangered species through his “Give a Sh*t” campaign. On Instagram, you’ll see him with all kinds of animals such as owls, eagles, and rhinos. While at home, he’s surrounded by a black cat and dogs, living an outdoorsy life.
Often, Moynes posts images with his cuddly rescue dog Koho. The big puppy is extremely affectionate and “needy,” wanting to cuddle up with Moynes. In a recent shot, you can’t tell where Koho begins and his dog dad ends?

A Long-time Cat Lover Himself
However, Moynes also loves cats. For example, he sells T-shirts that read “Cat Daddy” and “Cat Mama” to support wildlife conservation on his website. On Instagram, he says, “cats are cool get with it.” We see him playing and cuddling with his feisty black cat named Bear Bear.
“Out of all the four cats I’ve had I’ve never regretted getting one,” Moynes said, encourage people to adopt at a rescue or the SPCA.
It’s OK to Be a Cat Guy
In March, he shared an image and video with Bear Bear:
“It’s OK to be a cat guy. Tell me why it’s not.”
So, as you can see, Moynes looks like the perfect match for cat lover Katie Thurston. Now, we wonder how Tommy and Bear Bear will get along with each other and with their new dog siblings?
