Unless you’ve been living under a rock—or somewhere without WiFi—you already know about Baby Yoda. We’re talking about the adorable Star Wars character that made its debut in the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, you have to admit that the little alien creature is pretty cute. You can’t get online these days without coming across a Baby Yoda meme. And it looks like that craze has made it into the cat world.

The Humane Society of Rowan County recently took in a rescue that looks like she could be related to the little green star. The Internet has dubbed the feline Baby Yoda Cat, and now she’s taking the world by storm.

With her giant green eyes and large ears that tend to point out instead of up, Baby Yoda Cat bears an uncanny resemblance to Disney’s Baby Yoda. And like the original, this cat is now famous not only for her adorable good looks, but also for the cause she represents.

Just look at that face!

A volunteer found Baby Yoda Cat as a stray and took her to Cabarrus Animal Hospital on December 15. The sweet feline needed to be treated for a deep wound around her neck as well as an upper respiratory infection. It looked like she had been living on her own for awhile. She had hair loss due to past injuries, fleas, and intestinal parasites.

While the entirety of the Internet is calling this little survivor Baby Yoda Cat, her official name is Joy. She’s staying with the dedicated animal rescuers of HSRC until she’s 100% healthy. They say she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, but they’re optimistic her life is about to get a whole lot better.

As predicted, HSRC has already received several inquiries from people wanting to adopt this already-famous Baby Yoda Cat.The shelter says that while Joy is looking for her perfect home, she’s not ready to leave the shelter. Her fosters will keep her safe until she is fully healed, and then they will process local adoption applications. The shelter’s goal is to find Joy a home that will love her unconditionally. And if her new family decides to keep her in the Internet’s spotlight, they hope her story will be used to advocate for other rescue cats just like her

Baby Yoda Cat already has her own Facebook! Check it out for updates on her recovery.

REMEMBER: SPAY/NEUTER, FOSTER, VOLUNTEER, TNR & AS ALWAYS, ADOPT, DON’T SHOP!
