Most humans react with a shocked face when learning they are pregnant, but it’s unheard of for a cat to express it. That is until 1 year old female cat Ulla’s reaction was captured!
Dyrenes Venner i Grønland, translated as “Friends of the Animals in Greenland”, is a non-profit shelter located in Nuuk who shared the hilarious moment on their Instagram and Facebook pages.

“Ulla was surprised by the news that she is pregnant! Ulla probably feeds within a few weeks.”
Ulla was brought into the shelter mid-April this year. Staff initially believed she was “Victoria”, a cat who had been turned into the location in 2017. Victoria was a kitten that had been found with a large cut on her stomach. She stayed with the shelter for a week, healing and receiving medical treatments. Her owner appeared and informed them the cat had been lost and happily took her back to her home.
The team has tried numerous times, but cannot reach Victoria’s owner to confirm whether or not she is the friendly Ulla. The similarities are pretty astounding between the two beautiful cats!
Vores nye kat, Ulla, tror vi måske, vi har set før. Vi tror måske, det er katten Victoria, som vi fik ind i sensommeren…

Ulla is an extremely happy and outgoing feline. The shelter reported she loves cuddling, playing and going for walks on her leash. Other cats and children are equally welcome in Ulla’s world. About the only thing she is not crazy about is dogs, but with a bit of space between them, she tolerates them with common cat indifference.
When the time had come for the shelter to put Ulla up for adoption, they assured potential parents that she would be sterilized. A family of repeat adopters wanted a friend for the cat they took home in January; it would be a purrfect fit!
Ulla had been steadily gaining weight during her stay and they noticed it was primarily around her midsection. It was when the team took her for a checkup before adoption, they discovered Ulla had come with an extra surprise! Perhaps even a whole handful of little surprises <3
She is currently in the last stages of her pregnancy and expected to give birth any day now. Her veterinarian guesses her litter to be perhaps 4-5 kittens but it is difficult to tell at this late stage.
On May 20th, Friends of the Animals happily announced that Ulla had found a fur-ever home that would also likely be taking the kittens when born. The family who showed the initial interest were still willing to open their hearts to Ulla and her growing family.
Her new previously adopted fur-mate Sofus, is a reformed “hot heat killer originally named Kaos” recalls the shelter. Now he’s a big, loving boy. The two are getting slowly acquainted and seem to be settling in nicely.
Ulla’s furever family is excitedly awaiting the arrival of the kittens. They are keeping the shelter updated as the moment draws nearer.
Vi har fået en lille hilsen fra Ulla. Hun har det godt og venter stadig på, killingerne melder deres ankomst. I…

“We have received a small greeting from Ulla. She is well and still waiting for the kittens to announce their arrival. Meanwhile, says Ulla’s family that Ulla suffers a bit of mood swings. It is not completely abnormal for pregnant women …. neither pregnant cats 😀 “ – Facebook post, The Animal Friends @dyrenesvennergl
We want to send Ulla and her new family, 2 and 4-legged, best wishes! We know you will be the PURRFECT mama cat <3
