Alexandre Dubosc is a fantastically talented French artist that uses a variety of mediums to create animated short films. His portrayal of clay sculptures transformed into animation is inspiring. And in this case, a bit mouthwatering!

He is based in Paris and creates these magnificent pieces for several different companies. Alexandre has even claimed a European Master in Art award.

Since 2002, the French artist has been exploring the human fascination with “food” through both still and animated art.

In this aMEOWzing creation dedicated to the love of cats, he throws back to the classic zoetrope method of craftsmanship. What? You’re one of those unfamiliar with this art form? Join the club.

Basically, it is a version of pre-cinematographic animation. It produces the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs.

These show progressive phases of that motion.

His breathtaking, detailed “cakes” pleasurably hypnotize your senses!

And although I love these for inspiration, there are others that create cat themed cakes too…and those are edible!

Here are some of our favorites from a quick browse online! And it seems there is a style for every type of “taste” out there.

You’ve got your classy, clean lines and neutral colors on this layered beauty.

But what about those of you who are on the younger side? What would be great for a child’s “meowvalous” birthday party?

What if you’re an having an adult cat themed party? How do you purrsonalize a cake with something not many have seen before? Well, add a scratching post with spring toys!

Last but not least, what about the full on fluffy kitty face? I just love all of these. But now, I have to see if I have cake mix…
