Artist Creates MEOWsterpieces With Only A Fine Tip Marker!

His motto: Be Happy. Be Childlike. Be Ridiculous.

Amid towering skyscrapers and colonial architecture in the bustling capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a talented artist has chosen to use one simple fine tipped black pen to make his mark on the world.

In 2010, Kamwei Fong founded Bo&Friends, creating a unique platform in which to share his imaginative designs. Since that time, he has collaborated with many local businesses as well as global companies in the US, France, Germany and Great Britain. His art prints and ceramic sculptures are also currently on display in a central Paris gallery.

Fong was originally inspired by his goldfish Bo, while contemplating the idea that goldfish only have a 3 second memory. Wishing he were like his cherished aquatic companion, he would spend each day after a busy working schedule striving to “forget about stress easily and become happy again”.

Since then, he has broadened his scope to include a variety of beautiful creatures in the animal kingdom. His most recent is one of our absolute favorites…the black cat!

Each intricate piece is created by “shading with tons of tiny furs”, Fong explains. The lines vary in size and density to slowly build volume and texture, resulting in the exquisite “furry” appearance.

These dream-like and playful images are no easy undertaking however and the process is extremely time consuming. Smaller depictions could take a few days but larger pieces could take up to a few weeks!

According to his Facebook page, “Kamwei’s project aims to encourage and uplift people to become more optimistic about life. Bo only remembers the good things in life, like family, friends, nice weather and good times.”

His motto: Be Happy. Be Childlike. Be Ridiculous.

That is certainly our preFURred lifestyle!
