Walking the streets of the Suan Luang district in Bangkok, an animal lover stumbled upon a lost soul. It was a small, chubby cheeked gray American Shorthair tabby wandering alone. Quickly scooping the cat up, they took it to the Khlong Tan Police Station. Little did they imagine the feline would end up being arrested.
But What Led to Her Being Arrested?
Perhaps she was just too adorable for them or maybe she became furious at the prison menu. But who knows? Maybe an officer tried to pet her stomach, not knowing this is the danger zone. Regardless, she ended up biting and scratching a few officers. Thus, they arrested her for it.
And with mugshot and ‘pawprinting’ included! They then released a statement to hopefully deter other local purrpretrators and cat burglars.
Before the handover, which Inspector Da called “bail,” for this lovely cat who was charged with “assaulting an officer,” he took Nub Tang’s paw prints, noting that “we must prosecute this case so other cats won’t follow this behavior.”

Luckily, there was one who could be considered an experienced “pawfficer”.
That is “Inspector Da” Police Lieutenant Parinda Yukol Pakeesuk. And thankfully, he is fully aware of the boundaries of our feline overlords. Having a resume that includes previously rescuing 20 cats and 6 dogs locally, he took charge of the scene. So he posted online to see if her owner could be found. But no one stepped forward.
And so, he transported the “purrp” to his private holding cell, a.k.a. his home, for the evening.
Overnight, the post went viral and her owner stepped forward. The cats name is Nub Tang, which means ‘count money’. Bail money? Wink, Wink. She did bring the released inmate a fluffy pink collar/ harness for her walk of shame from the station.
They explained that she was charged with “assaulting an officer”. They were however able to get a statement from her on the incident.
Pakeesuk then humorously drafted a playful police report in the cat’s persona, stating: “I was just hungry. I did not mean to bite anyone.”
So let’s hope that her story deters her from attempting to run away from home and fight the po-po; paw-paw?
