Cats these days can be anything they want, and apparently that includes being law professors. At least that’s the case for a friendly feline named Professor Doctor Doerak. Students and staff at the University of Groningen, Netherlands all recognize Professor Doctor Doerak. Formally, they regularly refer to him by his full name. His classes are generally limited to “Sunbathing 101” and “How to Solicit Scratches”. But this university cat is a beloved member of the community.
He’s so well-known, he even has his very own university ID!
Doerak’s humans live next to the university in the city center. This gave Doerak the perfect opportunity to take on his professional position of molding young minds.
He’s actually the third university cat to walk the hallowed halls of his chosen college, but he’s arguably the most famous. His fluff and fun personality have earned him a respectable following, and in the world of social media, he has thousands of followers from all over the world.
When the professor is at work, people see him mingling with his students and patrolling the grounds. He enjoys meeting new people and even gives the occasional campus tour. The outgoing cat knows his way around better than most of the freshmen. And he’s welcome both inside and outside the classrooms. It’s always a treat when Professor Doctor Doerak trots into an open classroom door to lend his wisdom to the students.

On days when school is not in session, Doerak hangs out at home with his feline friends and siblings. Naps are always a favorite activity, but he still gets into the occasional trouble. He loves to rip up boxes and sneak into places he probably shouldn’t.
Anyone who attends the University of Groningen or visits the area is bound to recognize this fluffy cat.
He’s now a local celebrity, and the university store even sells merchandise with the famous feline’s face. As if attending classes and being a guest lecturer wasn’t enough, there’s more. This talented cat also released an eBook paying homage to all the other university pets around the world. Out of all his accomplishments, however, he’s best known for making people smile. He makes life at school a little more fun and lot more fluffy.
