Every pet wishes they could have a warm, loving home with all their needs met. For some, that dream never comes true. This kitty named Lovely wishes just that: to go home to a loving family, forever.
Eleven-Year-Old Senior Cat Loses Her Home
Lovely, a beautiful tabby cat, did have the best life for 11 years. She belonged to a loving owner who unfortunately passed away. Lovely was devastated at the passing of her owner, but luckily some family members took her in. Well, it turned out her new home wasn’t meant to be. Her new owners had to move to a new country and they couldn’t take her along. Lovely ended up with a friend of the family. This had to be it, she had her permanent home!
This too turned out to be another blow, since the friend was allergic to Lovely. Lovely’s new owner had no choice but to take her to the shelter. She ended up at the Australian Animal Protection Society (AAPS).
Since then, poor Lovely has been in and out of the shelter…440 days to be exact.
“She did get adopted late last year, but due to her meowing and vocalizing, she was sadly returned to us. We call it her singing.”
Getting some pets in!
Lovely has some skin allergies and a thyroid condition which requires her fur parents to give her a little extra TLC and medication. “When she came in, her health conditions were untreated, so she was in a bad way,” said Tahlia Haworth-Hooker, a member of AAPS.
“She needed to go into foster care where she stayed for a few months, resting and healing.”

All Lovely wanted was a nice home she could spend out her remaining senior years. Just like her namesake, she’s a very loving kitty who just wants people to spend time with her.
“She is very eager to have a pat, and greet her human friends. She is such a loving girl with a wonderful, calm temperament . . . loves to sing and will do it to get people’s attention, so they will come and spend time with her.”

In order to get her adopted, the shelter came up with a brilliant plan.
“It has been so heart-warming to see all the love coming through for our senior and long-term animals via TikTok.“
The team at AAPS decided to make a TikTok video featuring Lovely. In the video there is a sign on her room door that says “please spend time with me” in the shape of a heart. She is lying on her little shelf by the window sunbathing and near the door looking for love and attention.
The video ended up going viral with thousands of comments, shares, and likes. People lined up to support this senior girl and offered to give her her permanent home.
“I would drive from Sydney to Melbourne to pick her up.”
“Are we allowed to come and sit with the cats? I have a cat already so can’t take her, but I’ll drive out and sit with her.”
Thanks to the warm and loving attention she received from followers, Lovely has now been adopted! When AAPS posted the update the internet went wild.
