With many senior cats found in animal shelters, you can’t even imagine what their life has been like. Were they born on the streets, spending their lives just trying to survive? Or maybe they were once loved in a home and unfair circumstances led to them being abandoned? More heartbreaking stories then we even want to imagine are happening daily. But for one 15/16-year-old Maine coon mix named Frankie, his story is becoming more and more unbelievably sad with every update.
It was local cat rescuer John Debacker who was called in to an Amazon warehouse in Long Island for a needy feline. Here, workers had been feeding a sweet stray cat for a few weeks. They knew nothing about the cat, but they knew he needed to get off the streets. Happily, the cat slowly peeked out from under an Amazon truck where John was able to easily scoop him up. Scanning for a microchip, they learned his name is Frankie. And his story is becoming more and more unbelievably sad with every discovered fact! (We have concealed the identities of his previous owners for their privacy.)

Because Frankie has been bounced all around the globe, waiting for his forever family.
Frankie’s story begins in the UK. He then ended up in Bermuda with a local veterinarian, where he was microchipped. Thankfully, the microchip HAD information included and John was able to track some details down. The name associated to the cat though, produced no replies as of this writing. But then the vet moved from the island in 2015 and found Frankie a home with a family in Turks and Caicos. Here with his 2nd owner, the fluffy boy was loved by a woman living abroad.
But when she could no longer keep him (reason unknown), she also found him another home with a friend; his third home. An animal lover and rescuer of mainly dogs, his next owner lived in North Carolina. Happily, she shared adorable photos of a grumpy looking Frankie in a Santa hat for the holidays.
However, the last photo of him by them was shared in May of 2017.

Perhaps living in a home with dogs wasn’t ideal for Frankie, because they surrendered him to a South Carolina animal shelter. At least he wasn’t thrown on the streets, but he was again homeless. So poor Frankie found himself now in a shelter environment after being bounced around the globe and home after home. This rescue though, had a transfer program with Last Chance Animal Rescue in Long Island, NY. Thankfully, the then 8-year-old cat was placed in a foster home, where he was eventually a foster fail.
