Getting an emotional support animal isn’t a new thing for humans. Many of us with anxiety, PTSD, or other health issues have a beautiful kitty or dog to help us with these issues. But have you heard of a dog getting an emotional support animal? That’s exactly what Horlicks the golden retriever got!

Poor Horlicks had severe separation anxiety whenever his humans left him alone in their Syndey home. Of course, we hoomans have to work, go grocery shopping, hang out with friends, or whatever else that can keep us away from our furry lovebugs for long periods of time. But Horlicks got a special surprise for his fifth birthday.
Watching the video can break anyone’s heart, but in comes Hero, the savior support kitty!
“When he celebrated his birthday,” Horlicks’ owner explained to The Dodo. “I thought that another sibling is going to help him with all this separation anxiety.”
As any animal lover knows, two or more is always better! Horlicks and Hero, the British Shorthair cat, were slowly introduced to each other so meeting each other wasn’t too overwhelming. Luckily, this worked perfectly.
“Horlicks was able to say ‘hi’ and meet up with Hero,” their human said.
“He then started to realise that Horlicks is a gentle giant – and that’s when their relationship really picked up.”
Horlicks and Hero became fast friends, and instead of the heartbreaking cries, the Sydney humans found out that the two make the perfect pair. Hero is naturally playful, which caught Horlicks a bit by surprise at first. But then the golden canine started to warm up to his new tiny buddy. Now, Hero is always around to cheer up his spirits.
Horlicks is now feeling much better with a buddy to play with! The duo not only hang out at home, but they also love to go on walks together in the mornings and sometimes even get a beach day!
