For some, cats and other animals make any place feel more like home. And the surprise of meeting a cat can be a welcome diversion for weary travelers. Instead of sticking to a schedule, cats remind us to be more carefree.
Traveler’s Unexpected Cat Tour Guides
Maddie and Patrick, two world travelers from Phoenix, Arizona, like to have everything planned for their visits to incredible places. But sometimes, they throw their plans out the window after a cat appears. They say they often “follow cats all over the world way more than we should.”
After visiting places all over Europe, they say their favorite countries for encountering cats are:
- 🇬🇷 Greece
- 🇭🇷 Croatia
- 🇲🇪 Montenegro
- 🇮🇹 Italy
While in the picturesque city of Split, Croatia, a black cat appeared walking along a cobblestone alley. Although the couple had made to great effort to plan their day, they decided the cat would be their impromptu tour guide.
As it turned out, the feline made the most memorable guide paw-sible.
“🙋♀️ Anyone else relate to this?! 😂🐈⬛ We can be in the most amazing cities in the world and follow an adorable cat around instead of looking at the sites 😂🤷♀️. This particular cat was a fantastic tour guide around Split!! 😉” they shared.

A Black Kitten in a China/Glass Shop
While in the coastal city of Kotor, in Montenegro, the couple spotted a black kitten. Kotor is known as a medieval town that is many cat lover’s dream. Once again, they followed along and found themselves in a delicate handmade glass and pottery shop. They never would have found the lovely shop if the charming tour guide hadn’t led them inside.
“True Story: We followed this kitten down the street , and he led us right into this gorgeous pottery shop 😂. If you work in marketing, take note, people! Hire the local kitten to lure people in.”

Viewers on Instagram had funny comments about this kitten in a fragile glass shop. But they agreed they’d love to encounter such a kitty if they were traveling.
“That’s the store owner,” commented Nathaniel B.

“No kitten anywhere is safe from my pets while traveling 😂,” said fellow adventurer Anna.
The World Through the Eyes of a Cat
While taking in the sights in charming Cochem, Germany, the couple noticed they were being observed from a window. There, a “hilarious and intense” fluffy kitty was staring at them.
While they loved the town, they said, “Just beware that you may encounter ferocious kitties that demand treats and pets and hunt you down until you give them all your love 🐈. “

This big orange guy in the window was so cute that the he must lead many traveler’s astray. But it’s always a good idea to take a break to smell the roses or to see the world through the eyes of a cat.
