Kitten season was in full summer swing in Atlanta. Sadly, someone had left a basket in a park containing one tiny kitten, later named Rerun after the Peanuts comic strip. A partially empty bottle indicated someone was trying to care for him, but they were nowhere to be found. Thank goodness a kind person spotted the kitten in time, alerting rescuers who agreed to take the bottle baby immediately.
A little over two weeks before, the same rescuers had taken in a friendly mama cat, Lucy and her kittens, also named after the Peanuts characters. Thanks to them, Pigpen, Linus, Charlie, Patty, Woodstock, and Snoopy were all doing great. Now, they thought purrhaps Lucy might agree to help care for Rerun, named for the youngest child in the comic strip classic.
“🚨🚨🚨INCOMING: Single kitten found in a basket with a partially consumed bottle in a park… no clue what the situation is, but an awesome follower found them and got them to us! Updates ASAP!!! Fingers crossed Mama Lucy accepts him,” shared foster moms Marlena and Aimee.
Would Lucy accept a new kitten into her litter? Otherwise, he would need round-the-clock bottle feeding and an incubator to stay warm. Not to mention, he wouldn’t be bathed or cleaned by his mama cat or have the constant attention and love a mama cat provides best.
Lucy Readily Accepted a New Peanut
Everyone was delighted and relieved when Lucy immediately accepted Rerun as one of her babies. But he was so much smaller than the other peanuts, so Rerun gained two moms. The foster mom bottle-fed him to ensure he had a chance to get enough nourishment, while Lucy kept him warm and clean among her little ones.

It was followers who gave Rerun his name, beating out the runner-up, Peanut. He tried his best to get a place at the milk bar among the larger peanuts, but needed help.
Rerun Loves Cuddling and Playing with the Peanuts Gang
It was evident that Rerun had been bottle-fed before because he took to it readily. And he quickly bonded with Aimee, always wanting “post-dinner snuggles” after every bottle feeding. At the same time, he was always making “happy biscuits.” With all the bottle-feedings, he was becoming a velcro baby and a little chonk, catching up fast to his siblings in size.
“He purrs and needs snuggles after every feeding. I thought it was just every once in a while, but it’s every time,” Aimee said.
By mid-August, Rerun was becoming a chonk and catching up fast to his siblings in size. But as a bottle baby, he preferred hanging out with his foster mom.
“Rerun is the cutest little man! He’s 2 weeks younger than the Charlie Brown babies but honestly looks almost as big as them!!! You can tell he’s a bottle baby… he prefers hanging out with the human in the room 😍😍😍,” Aimee shared.
Caution: Cuteness Alert!
Although he loved getting attention from the hoomans, Rerun also enjoyed playtime with the Peanuts gang too.
Cuddling Forever in a New Home
In the blink of an eye, Rerun grew up and found a new home. One day, his future mom arrived to visit, and he went right up and commenced cuddling in her arms. It sealed the deal, and he went home to start a new life as Pita with a new brother named Pickles.
“The kittens had a visitor today – an adopter wanted to meet them to see who she vibed with. Rerun climbed in her lap and made himself right at home! So Rerun it is! Yay!” Aimee said.
The older ginger cat took to Pita right away.
“New brother Pickles took no time at all welcoming Pita to the family and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how this adoption turned out. 🧡🧡” Aimee shared.
