What’s better than adopting one kitty? Well a double adoption, of course! Adopting bonded dynamic duos (or trios) not only saves two lives but, counterintuitively, can make it easier for adopters. Why? The cats support each other in many ways and teach one another valuable cat things. But they also tend to spend their time wrestling and working out energy that might otherwise be directed at undesirable things.

One of the biggest reasons cats end up in shelters is due to behavioral issues. However, having a best buddy can often help them avoid boredom, which leads to problems. Besides, watching them play is so much fun! Although we often hear the phrase “double trouble,” in this case, it’s usually double the fun.

Rescuers Overjoyed by Wave of Double Adoptions

For San Diego rescuers from Love Your Feral Felines (LYFF), a wave of 11 adoptions in one week was caused for celebration. Best of all, four were double adoptions, giving eight cats homes together.

One of the cats, Neo, had been waiting to find a home for almost a year. But that week, he went home too!

During the adoption event, it was time to “let the cuddles begin!” the rescue said.

Adopted Milo Falls in Love with New Brother

The same week of the adoption event, a family shared the cutest update ever after they adopted a tuxedo kitten they named Milo. It’s a case where they adopted a cat in part to give companionship to a resident cat. And it couldn’t have worked out better!

At home in San Diego, Milo met Ziggy, a grey older brother. Judging by the pictures, the two promptly fell head over heels for one another. They were hugging each other and cuddling on a soft blanket like they’d know each other forever. They’re inseparable and their joy is infectious.

“We are so happy he’s a part of our family,” shared Nicole. “He is the funniest and craziest little guy! So entertaining to watch and the biggest cuddle bug!”

Nicole says that Milo is so overjoyed to be at home that he gives head bonks each night for upwards of 30 minutes.

“He loves bonking and nudging his head into our face when it’s time for bed! He does it back and forth between us for like 30 minutes until he finally falls asleep! It’s the cutest thing ever. He loves his big brother so much. Follows him around everywhere!”
