Love is love around the world, and rescuers want to help animals everywhere, including in Saudi Arabia. Here’s a heartwarming story shared by volunteer rescuers in Tabuk in the northwest of the country.
It’s great to see there are wonderful rescuers from this area of the world. In the past, the sale of cats or dogs as pets was banned by religious police. Nevertheless, in recent years, the prevailing attitudes toward cats and dogs have been “generally positive” although strict. As with many places, there are ongoing animal welfare concerns. While dogs are generally limited to staying outdoors, cats can be indoors.
But did you know that the origin of all house cats has been traced to Near Eastern wildcats? Today, they still roam the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Thus, people have loved cats in the area since ancient times.
Kissed By a ‘Lovebug’
One of the animal lovers, a kind man named Mohamed, meets a kitten named Lovebug. The mottled kitten was receiving such gentle treatment from him. She was so thankful that she leaned in to give him a kiss!

In response, Mohamed gave her a gentle kiss back and fell in love, warmly embracing the little cutie.

It’s these kinds of tender moments the world desperately needs more of these days, don’t you think? Maybe that’s why viewers on TikTok couldn’t get enough, and the video went viral, reaching 4.7 million views. Although the video went viral in 2023, Lovebug was actually rescued in Saudi Arabia in 2021, they shared.

How the Rescuers Found Lovebug in Saudi Arabia
Now for the backstory of how the rescuers found Lovebug, which is heartbreaking. On TikTok, they shared that they first saw her in an advertisement requesting help. She was struggling to survive and wouldn’t have made it much longer despite being nearby a restaurant.

Fortunately, a volunteer went at night to look for the cat and found her lying in a puddle of water, unable to move. She was filthy, and one of her eyes was crusted closed. Immediately, they carried Lovebug to the vet for treatment, and that’s when you see her with Mohamed. Now you can see why she was so very thankful to Mohamed for helping her!
Lovebug’s Happy Life in the French Countryside
In an update, the rescuers showed Lovebug, her hair fully grown in and playing with her pretty sibling. Even her once badly infected eye is fully healed.

In the TikTok below, you can see that Lovebug has the prettiest green eyes, a pink nose, and gorgeous colors of tan, black and white. She rolls over and lets her humans floof her fluffy belly, a playful, happy girl.

In one scene, she’s viewing the countryside with another friend against a wrought iron garden fence. So she’s living a wonderful, dreamy life in the French countryside, and who would have thought? What a happy ending the rescuers from Saudi Arabia gave her!
