Who rescues cats on the side of the highway late at night despite a tornado warning? The Cowboy Cat Wrangler, that’s who. Here’s the very unlikely yet extremely lucky rescue and happy ending for one cute tuxedo cat name Bristol.

Cowboy Cat Wrangler Bob Lynch and rescuer Dana Hoffman pulled over on Interstate I-95 near Bristol, Pennsylvania. There, in the dark and gloomy weather, they spotted the tuxie sitting by the side of the busy interstate as cars whipped by at 75 mph, only inches away.

It was scary and not something we would recommend trying at home. But it was “Just another day for a Cat Wrangler,” said Lynch.

Catching the cat, later named Bristol, would take incredible luck. And how many pro cat rescuers would have driven by at that moment complete with TNR (trap, neuter, return) traps in the car?

Against all odds, that’s what happened. The rescuers stopped to set a baited trap, knowing it was risky and the odds of success were low. But to their surprise, when they returned after a late dinner, they were overjoyed! There was the cute tuxie inside the trap, looking scared but otherwise fine.

Had somebody abandoned this friendly cat by the side of the highway? There was an empty laundry basket next to where he was sitting on the median. So it’s possible that’s how he go there.

How Did Bristol Get There?

How long had he been there? Nobody knows, but he was starving and couldn’t resist the food inside the trap. When Lynch looked inside, the cat’s yellow eyes were at full alert. But now, his days of worry were over.

“What are you doing on the side of the highway?” asked Lynch. “You’re scared? Did somebody dump you? You’re safe now,” he said.

Soon, the kitty and the rescuers were at the Forgotten Cats rescue at 1:30 on a Sunday morning. It’s another extraordinary part of the story to have help available at that hour. That’s when they learned the cat was a very friendly boy and was going to be fine.

A Detour to a Happy Life!

Spotting and catching Bristol took extraordinary luck, and the luck continued. The two-year-old tuxedo cat was friendly and in good shape. He found a loving foster home to care for him for several weeks. And then, he was ready to find a new home through Lucky You! Animal Rescue.

Adorably, while greeting his new mom and dad, Bristol came over to tell the Cowboy Cat Wrangler, “Thank you!”

“You’re thanking me? You’re welcome. You have a good life!” Lynch said to the lucky kitty.
