Rescuers in the “Big City” of New York, often save cats trying to survive in the worst circumstances imaginable. But they also see ‘miracles.’ We’ll share just two recent examples of such rescue miracles. When people come together, they really can make a difference for animals, ending suffering and changing lives for animals and people.

Lost Mama Cat Found Swiftly Against All Odds

First, here’s the cute story of a “miracle family,” a mama cat Swiftie and her litter of cuties. They were trying to survive in a Bronx basement.

Swiftie Disappeared into the West Village

What makes the story miraculous is the family quickly reunited after Swiftie lived up to her name, busting out of a carrier and running away in New York City’s West Village.

“For those of you who don’t live in NYC, finding a cat in the West Village is like finding Spider-Man on a tall building…it’s impossible. For those of you who live here, you KNOW!” said fosterer Elaine.

That’s when a Good Samaritan was in the right place at the right time and spotted the kitty the next day. An angel in disguise? An ER doctor saw Swiftie hiding under an ambulance, and although no doubt busy, he stopped what he was doing and saved her life.

“Then, “the impossible happened, and a Good Samaritan found her hiding underneath an ambulance near the hospital where he works as an emergency room doctor. WOW!”

Getting the mama back to her litter as soon as pawsible was an emergency! Little Wanderers NYC shared the ameowzing news:

“It’s a miracle. We want to thank everyone who stepped up. Finding a cat in the West Village is as likely as winning the Lotto. But hey, you never know. Hug someone really hard-this was an amazing rescue.”

Afterward, Swiftie needed to go to the veterinary hospital for a checkup. Then, she reunited with her four-week-old kittens and started where she left off as if nothing had happened.

“She immediately started cleaning and nursing them! She is so happy. And her kittens are over the moon,” said Elaine.

Miracle Family Adoptions

When the kittens are of age, spayed, and neutered, they will be ready to begin their new lives.

“They’ve come a long way from the Bronx basement where they were living!”

‘Miracles Happen When People Come Together’

Here’s another rescue story, which was so epic that the rescuers called it a miracle. Three volunteers quickly organized to save a family of cats struggling in the snow. When they got to the scene, they navigated wreckage in a flooded basement to save them.

Quite often, miracles happen through us when we collectively take small actions together.

“We know that miracles happen when people come together. It’s just a fact,” says the rescue’s TikTok. (see below). “Thanks to these wonderful volunteers and this amazing community, this mom and her six kittens will be able to live long, healthy, and happy lives.”
