It was like a scary horror movie when rescuers went for a late-night rescue of bitey kittens. They were hiding at a dangerous abandoned house in the dark.

Irvona, Pennsylvania rescuers, already overwhelmed with caring for never-ending kittens, couldn’t say no when they learned of four purr monsters at a nearby abandoned house. The scary house was full of garbage, and next to a pizza place on a main road, It was no place for animals, much less four kittens! Once they arrived, they saw there wasn’t a no trespassing sign. However, the place was full of dangers for kittens and people (Don’t try at home).

A Late-Night Rescue from a Creepy Abandoned House

Sadly, the 6-week-old kittens had lost their mother cat. She was possibly hit by a vehicle. According to witnesses, the kittens were surrounded by garbage, broken glass, and needles.

When the rescuers learned that someone planned to take the kittens to a farm, they knew they had to do something. Even so, they had been trying to recover from losing kittens that didn’t make it despite every effort. These emotional ups and downs are what rescuers must confront to save lives, and it gets overwhelming for the best of them.

“They were too close to not help in some type of way. They were talking about taking them to a farm. I wasn’t letting that happen,” shared Adale from Tiny Paws Nicu.

At their relatively young age, they could be socialized and live as pampered house cats. Plus, they could receive veterinary care and be spayed or neutered. That way, the kittens wouldn’t grow up and perpetuate a never-ending cycle of kittens needing rescue.

Catching Bitey Kittens at Night

The young rescuers described the capturing the hissy, bitey kittens in the dark late at 10 pm. It would be like a horror show for most, but they persevered and got help jumping through vines and dangerous garbage to catch them all (Again, do not try at home. Please contact local rescuers for advice.)

At first, the kitten remained well-hidden, but then, Adale played a video from YouTube of a mother cat crying for her babies. It worked, and one of the kittens later named Jack ran toward the familiar sound. Then he ran off, but with help, they managed to get all four to safety.

“I went to grab him, but he took off. I knew if he was up there, they all would be! My friend was with me, she only lived a minute away, so we went to get her brother to climb on the porch and through all the junk and vines. He did a really great job, and we were able to catch all 4 kittens in less than an hour.”

To complete the horror movie, two women screamed at the brother from across the road while he scrambled through overgrown vines.

“When my friend’s brother was moving stuff on the porch to get the kittens, two ladies across the road were screaming at us, saying we were tormenting cats and were threatening to call the police! I explained we were a rescue and we were getting them to safety. But they were just ridiculous.”

Like many rescues tend to be, it was a fright to get those kittens to safety. But this one sounds especially scary.

Horror Movie Kittens

While they are ridiculously cute, the kittens were no doubt horrified by humans. So, it was no small feat to catch the little fluffy monsters. Yet they did, and soon they were in a safe foster home with horror movie-inspired names.

“They have never really had much human interaction, so they are scared… hissy, spitty, all around spicy, as you can see, lol. I promise I’m not hurting them; I was just holding them by their scruff because they are bitey! (Those pics were taken the second they were caught) We went straight from there to their foster home,” Adale said.

From Scawy to Purr Monsters

Although they were terrorized, the kittens adjusted to foster life after they realized humans aren’t so scary. It was Jack the Pumpkin King (with the most white) who emerged first, and later; he was the first to adjust to the foster home.

After an hour of giving them love and attention, the kittens settled in. From then on, they would never have to struggle again, thanks to those daring rescuers.

“They look to have just turned 6 weeks old, so they are young enough to ‘tame’ quickly. The one with the most white is already super calm. No hisses or anything. Doesn’t try to get away. Etc. We loved on them for an hour last night when I took them to their foster home. They are already settling in well. They got their first vaccine and dewormer! Booster in 2 weeks.”

Once they were ready, spayed, and neutered, the Horror Movie babies would be ready to star in a different kind of movie. This time, the movie will be about cuddles and purrs in adopted homes.

“Welcome sweet babies! On to a better life!” said Adale.
