Can cats be musical vocalists capable of making spiritual ‘meowsic?’ Well, cats and many other animal vocalists are the subjects of the viral TikTok duets with Kevon Carter from Chicago. Carter plays keyboards to accompany videos of animal vocalizations, and suddenly, the animals “preach!” and “testify!” with melodic passion.
Maybe, the kitties just needed the right musician to translate their emotional renditions.
A musical minister and influencer, Kevon Carter is also a talented gospel singer. But he found out he’s a great comedian after posting his first comedic videos to social media and seeing them go viral. Soon afterward, he realized “comedy and humor was also a ministry.”
Although these duets are funny, there’s also something to think about as we consider that animals appreciate the universal language of music too. Previously, we shared how the healing power of sound and music can help lower stress for people and pets in shelter environments.
Meowsic with Melodic Cats
Last February, Carter introduced a cat named Tatyana from Russia that he says is “one of the most melodic cats I’ve ever had the pleasure of accompanying.” Surprisingly, this cat does create a meowsic when it’s set to Carter’s keyboard.
At the end, Tatyana even gives a wink.
“This is one singing cat right here 🙌🏽😁”
“The other cat is saying ‘sang girl 😂,’ commented one person
“Skillz…walking and singing!” said another person.
Lion King Gospel
Can Lions sing gospel meowsic? Well, judge for yourself in the duet with a lion below. Set to Carter’s keyboards, it really changes the way you see/hear those passionate roars, doesn’t it?
Or, how about this little kitten, trilling a melody that made Carter say: “Cat got soul 🤷🏽♂️😁 “
This cat seems to be putting together lyrics almost. But, what do you think the kitten is singing below?
Cat Breakup Song
Amewsingly, Carter even created a duet that gives the vibe of a cat breakup song. As you can see below, this cat is trying very hard to tell their friend that it just won’t work anymore, as hard as they tried to keep the love alive.
“This felt like a break up,” Carter said. “This gave me ‘I love you, but I can’t do this anymore’ vibes. 🤷🏽♂️😁 Credit: @p0ncikler”
Recently Carter expanded his repertoire with an orange tabby who makes music from crunching a plastic bag. Set to his keyboards, percussive accompaniment, and vocal harmonies, it really works!
So, next time you see your kitty crumpling a plastic bag or meowing, you might see it in a brand new meowsical way. You can follow Kevon Carter on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram for more sweet meowsic.
