Cats are explorative little creatures. They just love to find little nooks and crannies to fit themselves into. And they are the epitome of “if I fits, I sits.” Well, this little guy found himself in a more precarious “I can fit here” situation by squeezing himself into an ATM machine.
The Kitten Found Shelter In An ATM Machine
Buying kittens from an ATM would be a bit inappropriate and dangerous right? Well, fortunately, that’s not really a thing. But these firefighters and one curious cat in Arkansas got to experience it! A Regions Bank in Fort Smith, Arkansas called about a kitten stuck in their drive-thru ATM machine. The little one-pound spicy boy was so small, it was no wonder he was able to fit inside the machine. But how did anyone find out about him?
Jason Barron is an armed security guard who was driving along his route and decided to stop at the bank to use the ATM. We don’t know how he figured out the kitten was inside. But maybe a little paw came out of the money dispensing slot instead of his cash?!
No one could confirm how the tiny floof made his way inside, but Alexis Bloom has a theory.
“Probably trying to find shade is why, but I can’t tell you how.”
Bloom is one of the kennel techs at Fort Smith Animal Haven. Her coworker, Ashley Deane, said it was the first time she’s ever experienced anything like this.
“This is actually my first experience with a cat getting stuck in an ATM. You know, I never thought that somebody would be able to go up and make a withdrawal and get a cat out instead of some cash, so now we have both.”
The kitten has a new bank-themed name!
The firefighters successfully extracted the tabby with no issues. Free from the machine, he made it known that he was hungry and a little dirty from all that dust and paper. The little guy made his way to the local Fort Smith Animal Haven where he was given a once-over Amma deemed healthy.
The firefighters posted the daring rescue on their Facebook page and some Facebook users had a few suggestions. One of the suggestions mentioned he should be named “Moolah” or something robbery-related. But, his new name is now Cash.
“Why was the cat not arrested for attempted bank robbery? Fort Smith Police Department care to chime in here? Is the cat related to Pawciffer Fuzz and used his pull to get out of a charge?” Facebook user Wesley Rester asked.
Cash is doing well and getting all cleaned up and ready for adoption. At first, he was a little leery about his new surroundings, but now he’s nothing but a little cuddle muffin.
“Once you pick him up, he’s just a big purr box, that’s all,” Bloom added. “He’s just a huge purr box; he’s the sweetest little baby.”
Cash just loves to play with his toys at the animal haven, and he has his own Facebook page! He doesn’t have very many posts yet, but we’re sure he’ll have some new adventures to share soon.
He has officially accepted the Animal Haven’s position of Ambassador of Animals. Whether that means he’ll be a permanent member of the haven or go home to one of the workers, it’s up for debate. There’s no doubt people will be lining up to withdraw him from the Animal Haven and deposit him into their home.
