Amal, the blind kitten, was near death and making heartbreaking attempts to cry, left in a cardboard box outside rescuer Vanessa Ciranni’s door in Dubai. The rescuer is helping raise awareness about the plight of stray cats, dogs, and other pets in the United Arab Emirates.

Too often, cats and kittens are found starving and with life-threatening injuries that wouldn’t stand a chance without her and fellow rescuers. Even when healthy, they can die in the heat of summer without access to water, so she often asks others to leave a bowl outside for the strays.
When Ciranni found the kitten, she could hardly move, was dehydrated, and emaciated. Sadly, she was so dehydrated her meow sounded more like a duck quack. After receiving some water, her voice went back to normal.
“I thought she was about to die,” Ciranni said in a viral TikTok. “She has been starving for weeks.”
Along with facing starvation, Amal also went blind and had no chance to survive on her own. Things looked very grim for this young one. However, Ciranni was hopeful for the kitten, naming her Amal, meaning hope in Arabic.
Indeed, the kitten survived and slowly adjusted, learning how to navigate the world without sight. After experiencing so much trauma, she would cry when she was alone. Wrapped in warm blankets, she kneaded her paws affectionately.
Amal’s Amazing Recovery Thanks to Rescuer
After posting the video of Amal on Instagram and TikTok, Amal appeared on TV, and everyone wanted to know how she was doing. In an update, Ciranni says the furbaby was frail and skinny but had a big healthy appetite. Meanwhile, she went to the vet for checkups as she slowly recovered.
“She eats all day long,” the rescuer said.’

Amal Adapts Amazingly
In another update, we see that the kitten is adapting and learning to navigate her home amazingly well. In a TikTok, the blind kitten trots and jumps around the house confidently.
The rescuer bathed her with affection and she made friends with the other rescues.
“She is getting more confident moving around,” said Ciranni. “She also gets along with the other cats.”

Amal Finds the Perfect Home
In a wonderful update, Ciranni shared some wonderful news.
“I finally found the perfect home for her,” she said.
Now almost fully grown, the beautiful cat went to a lovely home with lots of toys for her to play with. It was bittersweet for her rescuer because she would miss her.
“You cannot image how much I miss her little face and voice,” Ciranni said. “But she is getting now all the attention I was not able to give her since I rescue many more animals like her.”
After saying goodbye, Ciranni said she would be able to visit occasionally.
