Ivy the kitten and Poppy the calf are best friends at the Pebble Creek Homestead. On the Arcanum, Ohio farm, Lexi and her family care for all kinds of animals such as goats, cows, and rabbits. Recently, she introduced Poppy, the tiniest calf she’s ever seen.
Poppy the Tiny Calf
In October 2021, the homestead shared a picture of Poppy, bottle-fed since she was just 2 days old.
“Poppy is a 3-month-old calf that we have bottle raised since she was 2 days old. She was born extremely small and wasn’t expected to live but we knew we had to try,” Alexis Denlinger told Newsweek. “She is very healthy now—still small—but sweet and loves a lot of attention.”
“Meet Poppy! The tiniest calf I’ve ever seen,” she said on Instagram.
Ivy the Kitten
According to Denlinger, Ivy the kitten is super snuggly.
“Ivy is a 5-month-old kitten who was born on our farm. She is an excellent mouser and quite the cuddler. She is very fluffy and likes to be held.”
First, Poppy started licking Ivy, and then they became snuggle buddies.
“My son first noticed them snuggled together in the barn, with Poppy licking Ivy’s head, a few weeks before I caught this clip on camera,” she said. “It’s cold here this time of year and they keep each other warm. Ivy loves the warmth and Poppy likes the attention.”
Ivy and Poppy in the Barn
Recently, Pebble Creek Homestead shared an adorable video of the unlikely duo in the barn. Quickly, the TikTok went viral with over 313.5K views as of January 6, 2022.
As Denlinger approaches, she catches the kitten cozying up to Poppy. Then, the cat stretches and begins to approach the sound of her voice.
“Good morning,” Denlinger says on the clip. “Ivy, are you cuddling with Poppy? Hmm? Are you guys best buddies now?”
“This is not the first time we’ve caught them snuggling,” reads the caption.
Ivy Prefers Cuddling Poppy
In the comments, Denglinger reveals that Ivy sometimes prefers cuddling with Poppy over her brother Hickory.
“It’s probably so warm and they keep each other company 😊❤️” commented one person.
“Yea and Ivy leaves her brother Hickory all by himself… lol,” writes Pebble Creek Homestead.
Another person suggested Ivy and Poppy would make a great children’s book.
“I have a whole list of ideas lined up! We’ve had quite a few fun experiences,” responds Pebble Creek.
On Instagram, the homestead shared a super-cute picture of the two cuddlers. Poppy’s yellow tags are her birthday, and she may become a permanent pet for the family.
“Ivy & Poppy have become the best of friends!”
In a picture from soon after Poppy’s arrival on the farm, we see her being greeted by the much-bigger Annabelle.
“Annabelle is greeting Miss Poppy.”
There’s also a cute video of Poppy wearing a little coat and walking up to the little kitten.
