TikTok user @alberts_tail shared the beautiful moment rescued cat Albert realized he had found his forever home. Some 6.3 million people have watched the short but sweet video in just a little over a month.
You can see the exact moment the 5-year-old cat knows his hard days on the streets are over. In the almost 20 thousand comments, many people said the emotional moment brought them to tears.
Albert Lived on the Streets for Years
According to the TikTok videos, the Australian stray lived feral for two years, hiding from humans trying to rescue him. Finally, rescuers were able to bring him in to receive veterinary care in Wallsend. Although he’s a young cat, he looks much older, having experienced many struggles and hardships.
Then, on March 3, 2021, Albert first enjoyed a taste of his forever home. And, it was just in time, as the tough white cat may not have lived much longer. According to the video, he was “a week away from death.”
“Albert had open cuts and wounds, was infested with fleas, his head was swollen, he had shallow breathing, and he was extremely dehydrated,” says the caption.
Before officially adopting Albert, the rescuers had to surrender him.
“It was heartbreaking,” they say.
Months of Treatment and Uncertainty
As a stray cat with a microchip, they would have to wait to see if the former owners claimed him. Then, after a week, they learned he was very sick and could pass away overnight.
Fortunately, the veterinarians saved him, but he required three months of treatment for many health concerns.
Albert Arrives at His Forever Home – for Good
Finally, on May 20, Albert was ready to return to his forever home, this time for good. Following his arrival, he still needed months to recover fully.
Albert Begins Thriving
After his long road to recovery, this cat is looking amazing and fully restored. His once mangy-looking coat is long, white, and luxurious. On his face, you can see how content and thankful he seems to be for his new human family.
Today, Albert is “living his best life in his forever home” with a young woman who loves him dearly.
“Every morning, Albert walks up on me and sits on my shoulder to say good morning,” she says.
In another TikTok showing Albert six months later, the love fest remains in full effect. It’s heartwarming to see how all the love and caring have completely changed Albert’s life.

In the most recent video to date, the TikTok account shared a wonderful Christmas video. In one scene, she hangs an ornament with Albert’s name painted on it. Then, she carries him around the tree while both wear Santas.
